Adama forgot his passport, so didn’t travel. 🙄

probably tripped up getting on the plane

It is unbelievable that anyone can turn up at an airport without a passport. Even within Europe I’ll always have one.

Took Torino 2 minutes to take the lead in their home leg tonight

Portuguese press delighted with their team’s successes in Europe tonight with all three of their teams winning - Braga, Guimares and Wolves

Torino don't scare Halfy, if we can’t beat them, then we need to get out of it now

Torino went one better than us 5-0, albeit at home. Should be a good tie, a first taste of proper European footie.

Dreadful draw though, a very real possibility we could miss out on SIX Torino scale games thanks to that

Belotti has a very good record and is Torino's captain also but aside from him I've only heard of a couple of their players. Not that that means anything.

As always my glass is smashed on the floor

Torino have been in the top half of Serie A for the last 4 or 5 years after a spell in the doldrums. Been hovering around 7th to 9th during that spell. A team 7th in the Premier would be rated higher than a team 7th in Serie A and we will be made favourites to beat them. But unlike Crusaders and Pyunik it will feel like a proper European competition game, and certainly one to look forward to

Don’t think Traore forgetting his passport will do him any favours when it comes to team selection for the Leicester game and although it won’t be made to look like that I wouldn’t be surprised to see him lose his place as a result. Whether Doc is fully fit only the club know, alternatively the subs made tonight ended with us having Vinagre left and Jonny right which is clearly another option

I still think that Traore is a liability and was disappointed we did not offload him. He is so frustrating when he appears to have great potential but fails to produce.
Would expect to see him go in the new year unless he shows a lot more.

Not sure about Doc's fitness. He looked fine when he was playing and certainly took his goal well. However he took another knock and after being replaced by Jonny, was sitting with an ice pack on his knee. A bit of a worry.

I will stick Vinagre in my Fantasy team then

If Jonny and Vinagre do end up being the wing backs at the start of the league season, I don’t think Doc will find it easy to get back into the team

I'm very surprised you say that DJ. For me Doc is first pick wing back. His 8 goals and numerous assists last season made a massive contribution to the success we enjoyed. Jonny is certainly as good if not a better defender but is nowhere near as potent as Doc going forward.
As for Vinagre, for all his speed and fancy stepovers he rarely produces an assist. The only difference between him a Traore is that we have yet to see the best of Vinagre whereas I'm not sure Traore has anything more in the locker.
Vinagre has massive potential but he is not even close to the assured performances that you get from Doc game after game.

Not criticising Doherty at all Gem. Just that Nuno tends to stick to players doing well and I could see Jonny and Vinagre doing well if they are selected and Doc having to wait his turn

posted on 9/8/19

Unless Doherty s still suffering from his minor injury, I don't see him starting on the bench. For the reasons Gem has stated, he is a must down the right side.

Plus Jonny didn't even start yesterday.

Firstly, I believe our best starting wingbacks are Doherty on the right and Jonny on the left.

Secondly, Vinagre is not yet as good as Jonnyon the left, but not a million miles away, and he will get better.

Thirdly, Jonny is adequate cover on the right, but not as good Doherty and not as good as he is on the left.

Fourthly, there's Traore, nuff said.

And thankfully, Wulfrunnut, Nuno agrees with you

More important thing to me as I have been saying all summer is not what is our best 11, it’s whether we have a strong enough squad so that there are choices to be made. Last season the first 11 picked itself and I think that’s a really unhealthy situation for a club to be in. And we were lucky we had so few injuries.

I would like this season to get to the point where I don’t care who plays wing back out of Doherty, Jonny and Vinagre because they all prove to be good enough at this level. Similarly between Bennett, Coady, Boly, Vallejo and maybe Saiss in defence. And between Jiminez, Jota and Cutrone in attack.

Unfortunately in midfield I think any selection other than Dendoncker, Neves and Moutinho makes us much weaker and we needed to land Kessie or Lamina to solve that. Saiss does ok, maybe MGW will make strides, and maybe Neto and Jordao will prove to be good, but I suspect we are reliant on the first three staying fit to maintain a high standard.

Am i the only one that thinks Jonny is our best wing back?

Can't say i am that concerned who gets games from our three choices at wing back(i am not including Traore as he isn't a viable option in my view).

As for midfield, our best three for our system is obvious and much as i think Saiss does an excellent job he is better suited as a containment option in tougher games.

Not sure what to make of MGW at this point and i wonder if Nuno thinks similar as he doesn't seem to have a position sussed for him yet
