I’m sure Maddison will go to United for around £90-£100m next season. He would be a good fit for any top four team - but surely it would be a lot easier and cheaper to actually do some scouting and sign these kind of players before we do?
No thanks.
Gomes is a superior talent and he's on his last season of his contract. We should be proving to Gomes we'll be playing him more so he extends his contract not buying good talent when we already have GREAT talent.

It's a good point, Black Starr. The progression from Norwich to big (and bad) spenders like United would traditionally be via someone else. Dan James might signal a bit of a departure, who knows?

Madison made more chances than anyone in the entire league last season. And was excellent today.

That isn’t true at all. Maddison is far more advanced than Gomes. Maddison is one of the top attacking talents in the league at the moment. Most chances created in the entire league last season and was superb in the second half today. We won’t get him for the simple fact he’d cost in excess of 90m. Unfortunately until his contract runs down we need to look elsewhere

I didn't say Maddison wasn't more advanced, I said Gomes is a superior talent. Maddison is 22 with loads of games under his belt and Gomes is 18 with a higher ceiling.
He is superior his technical skill, pace and vision.
I watched the entire game today, did you not notice how many times the counter broke down with Maddison because he didn't have the pace to dribble by a player? The amount of times he hit the first man when attempting a through ball or the point blank sitter he missed?
We have an amazing talent who is in the last season of his contract, maybe we should give him games first? Lingard, Mata, Pereira and Pogba can all play in the same position until he comes of age.

I’m not saying Gomes isn’t a talent. To say Gomes is superior in technical skill and vision is a bit bizarre as he’s never played a full 90 mins in a competitive game for the first team.
Maddison was good today and his delivery is superb. All players miss good opportunities. Maddison has caused problems pretty much for the majority of the top teams in the league from the games I’ve watched. Gomes needs to actually play some games for the first team before any sort of comparison can be made
It's Immaterial really, Leicester won't sell him to us, and we have shown no interest.
I would much rather see how Gomes develops, it will save us a fortune which we can spend elsewhere. And if Rosso is right he is a future star.

That depends on if he signs a new contract. He's a free agent at the end of this season I think.
I thought I would do my first ever name change, for a short while, in honour of Jofry Archer getting the better of Steve Smith.,
I'm a big fan of Gomes and have seen him a fair bit through the ranks but he's fvcking tiny.
I know people will say 'Messi' but Gomes even shorter and the list of top footballers who are 5ft 3 and 8 stone is, well, small.
Nicky Butt who knows more about Gomes than anyone when asked who’s the most likely to break through to the first team.
"I think Gomes could set alight this season and do really well, he's matured and got a lot stronger."
The other is Greenwood.
Maddison will never be on the level of a world class number 10 like Silva, Mata in his prime, Dybala or Oz during his Madrid days.
Gomes imo definitely has that chance.
Depends what happens with Pogba and how we go about shaping the midfield as a result of that. Sancho will, and should, be our number one target next summer. I like Maddison but when you look at how difficult Leicester are to deal with for their players we’d probably be better off looking elsewhere.

You don’t even have to look at Messi, just look at Bernardo Silva. He’s tenacious in the way he presses, he doesn’t use strength, he’s like an annoying fly, he tries to nick the ball from the opposition not bully them. Silva is 4 inches taller than Gomes but the same principle applies.
When he’s on the ball, he recycled possession before anybody can touch him or he glides by others with pace.
