Only in England they release players because they are small. There are enough midget players in Portugal, Spain who are better than any giant english player.
Cazorla, D Silva, B Silva are the proof you don't need to be a giant to be a top player.
Those players use intelligent movement and knowing where the free space is to move.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're right. But Gomes is actually fecking tiny - at least 3 inches smaller than any of those players you mention.

I'm a big fan of Gomes and have seen him a fair bit through the ranks but he's fvcking tiny.
I know people will say 'Messi' but Gomes even shorter and the list of top footballers who are 5ft 3 and 8 stone is, well, small.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott McTominay was 5’6” when he was the same age that Gomes is now.
Darren, your man Joao Felix just pulled off a Messi like run - he’s going to be top class

Porto let Joao Felix go because of he was too skinny. Players all around the world don’t make it because they are too small.

So still 3in taller than Gomes. 9in in 2 years though? You sure?
Yeah I grew a fair bit from 18 to 21 but then some people have stopped by then. Fact is 5ft 3 is probably too small and as it stands that's what he is.
Did he score? I hate that he’s going to have his flair beaten out of him by Simeone.

He won a penalty - was missed by Morata ๐
Gomes is still 18, humans tend to stop growing by the time they hit 21. He still has 3 years left to hit a growth spurt

Yep. McT had some sort of supernatural growth spurt.

You can have your height predicted pretty accurately. If Gomes has any growth left he’ll already know about it (as will the club). Likewise if he doesn’t.
We aren’t privy to his medical records so have no idea if he’s predicted to grow a bit or if he’s done. He’s a serious talent though and he held his own perfectly well in preseason, against Cardiff last season and he’s regularly training with the first team.

I was actually pretty gutted we didnt get him once upon a time.
One of the few points I'll concede to Stretty.
Amazing how badly things went for Morata and Lukaku given the money involved for them both.
Both just lack the bottle for the top top level I think. Morata in particular I still think is a very talented footballer.
I have a theory that to carry the goalscoring burden at a club like United you've just got to have this cลซntish, arrogant streak in you. Zlatan, RVP, RVN, Ronaldo, Rooney, Cole, Cantona - they all had it. It sort of made them feed off of the pressure that comes with the role.
Morata and Lukaku I think just wilted under that pressure. You heard Morata complain about not being loved by Chelsea, or Lukaku refusing to celebrate at points last season (which I presumed was due to the criticism he would get at old trafford quite regularly). These sort of things I think should be warning signs to the elite clubs.
Yeah I’d agree with that. Both have been accused of being mental midgets. Will be interesting to see how they get on at Atletico and Inter where it’s less demanding than Chelsea and United.
To be fair to Morata he scored the winning goal today.
Maddison would be a superb replacement for Pogba if he leaves next summer. No reason, I think that Gomes and Maddison couldn't play together, Especially against sides that will park the bus against us
Maddison would be a good signing.
Cost 120 million?

Inter were once Italy's top team, just like us.. we are both now top 4/5 clubs.
Atletico are a top side, probably better than us and Spanish fans are quite impatient.
