A current holder is also a past winner you nutjob.
Also I could name loads of past winners of the Super Cup, for example. Wonder what they all have in common.
Here you go:-
Liverpool
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Atletico Madrid
Should I go on?

It's weird because I don't remember fans of other clubs denigrating the Super Club online when a club other than LFC won it.
Oh that's right, the internet wasn't invented.
Funny watching rival fans try to denigrate the Super Cup. Bitter or what
You can rattle off names after spending 10 minutes thinking about it or googling
Do you remember any of the matches? Did you watch them? What was the scoreline?
Arsenal have played in countless charity/community shields but I remember very few if them and couldn't tell you the year we bear City 3-0, or when we had a 0-0drae with tottenham, there was also one year we lost on penalties to Utd with Seaman missing the final pen
3 games I can properly remember in 30 years, it's just not as relevant as proper competitions that are decided at the business end of the season
This is not an attack in Liverpool, there's no need to be so prickly and turn it into a wum, it's just how most people feel
Tbh it'snot even about that for me. To say a football match is pointless and irrelevant from a football point of view is genuinely the stupidest thing I've ever read on here, ever.
This thread is insane. It's pretty clear people will say anything.
Think that's gonna come down to semantics

So you can remember a quarter of the 12 appearances in the last 30 years. That's not bad.
Although I would say the Super Cup is held in much higher regard than the Community Shield.

Semantics indicates dome kind dual meaning. I even asked him to clarify it.
Just out of interest, mainly because I regard the Super Cup as a bigger trophy than the community shield for a number of reasons, how did you feel when Arsenal won the Super Cup?
This question goes put to Chelsea fans too
Rivals falling over each other to convince themselves that the greatness of Liverpool is lesser than it actually is.

Just to help this along, I would generally agree that people don't really care about the Super Cup.
Obviously nice for the fans of the team who has won it, but I've never been very interested and as someone who once went to most games, I never bothered travelling for this one. Know quite a lot of United fans who felt the same.

I wouldn't go that far, no.
If it helps, I would love Spurs to win a super cup, but in order to do that we need to win a cup to get into the super cup

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no doubt that Liverpool deserved to win the cl and are worthy of the title best team in Europe.
They don't have to beat the winners of a vastly inferior competition in which Chelsea weren't given a game until the semi to prove this.
Although I would have killed to win the cl I would have been furious if we had been involved in this pointless match 3 days before we played away at City.

But this is the point, others don't see it as pointless.
It does seem a bit odd to me, as a fixture.
It used to mean something because the European Cup was for champions only and the UEFA Cup was a really special competition in its own right.
But now, the Europa League is such a second rate competition that I'm not really sure what the Super Cup stands for.
