Rivals falling over each other to convince themselves that the greatness of Liverpool is lesser than it actually is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no doubt that Liverpool deserved to win the cl and are worthy of the title best team in Europe.
They don't have to beat the winners of a vastly inferior competition in which Chelsea weren't given a game until the semi to prove this.
Although I would have killed to win the cl I would have been furious if we had been involved in this pointless match 3 days before we played away at City.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But this is the point, others don't see it as pointless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where would you prioritise the Super Cup?
For me it would be;
CL
Prem League
FA Cup
Super Cup
League
Cup
Charity Shield
It's a game of football in an entertainment sport.
I enjoyed watching it. It gave the club a decentamount of prize money. Players looked made up to win it.
That's it.
What'sthe point of football if we're going down that route.
I find the stance of many on this quite sad tbh.

I think this is all being taken out of proportion a little.
It's okay for some fans not to care about it and for others to quite like it.
Same goes for the league cup!
Football fans: Champions League should only be for the league champions.
Also football fans: Super Cup (which features 2 European competition winners) is a meaningless friendly.
Can't make it up.

Don't really understand your point here?
I asked earlier how did fans react on here when their club won the super cup.
Any takers?

I probably wasn't interested enough to post about it although stand to be corrected.
If Liverpool had dropped points at Southampton (which they nearly did) we might have seen a bit more honesty on here about the value of a midweek friendly in Turkey.

In what way did we nearly drop points at Southampton? We were two-nil up and they scored a consolation. They were never in a position to take any points.

Is this actually based on anything?
I dunno, I like watching my team play football and it was a thoroughly entertaining match. I like the fact the players looked made up winning it and I like the fact that we got £5,000,000.

Not imo, the super cup was the higher priority game.
Not sure where this friendly thing comes from either. It's literally a competitive match sanctioned by UEFA.

You didn't see Ings miss at 1-2 then?
No more than I saw Firmino's.
Let's be honest - some fans care about the Super Cup (and league cup) and some fans don't.
It's that simple and I don't understand why it would turn into a 14 page debate.
Some people here really need to learn the art of agreeing to disagree in my humble opinion.
I refuse to agree with these idiots, Winston.
The entire thread is full of bollox.
Just beat Norwich, Southampton nearly got a point, football matches are irrelevant from a football POV.
Some people will say anything.
