I wouldn't get too excited about Forster just yet. A keeper with confidence issues is a sorry sight and I'm not sure Forster is coming up the road in the best frame of mind. He might not be the same keeper you remember.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only conceded 3 goals last season though
Played 1 game right enough
I thought we were gonna end up signing the St Mirren keeper
Wisnae that when Greggs signed back for Rangers and Davis and the rest of the 'old gang' Big Fraser will be a good addition.

Can see rangers going out tonight which leaves us at a disadvantage.

Belter
He’ll no doubt be a bit rusty but it’s well documented that Stevie Woods got him in the form of his life so I’m confident that’ll happen again.
The way I see it is we’re going from a keeper who would likely cost us points to one who could win us points, that’s good enough for me.
Think Him and shexy Dr Leah have split unfortunately.
I did find an interesting critique of Forster on Europsport from a couple of years ago admittedly but the fact he is now third choice for Southampton suggests things haven't got much better for him;
'Forster used to be an outstanding shot-stopper – arguably among the top three in the division with David De Gea and Hugo Lloris. While his kicking and aerial command was often flawed, you could always rely on him to perform a goalkeeper’s main duty: stopping the ball.
But his rare talent has vanished, leaving a shell of a goalkeeper with no discernible qualities except sheer size. Tame efforts now squirm past him or are pushed back into dangerous areas and duly converted. And it leaves Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino with an unavoidable decision. Forster has to be dropped.
Couldn't be any more damning tbh.
'a shell of a goalkeeper with no discernible qualities except sheer size'
I remember being quite shocked when I saw him play last season. TBH I would say bringing Forster in now with a view to going straight into the first team would represent a pretty significant gamble for celtic.
You could win a watch if he rediscovers his form of 3 or 4 years ago. But he would need to do it pretty quickly in what seems to be quite an unforgiving environment at the moment.
And if he doesn't get his mojo back.....

Then punt him for £10m again in the summer

McGregor was Hull's player of the season, he hadn't been rotting in the reserves for a year.
I agree though if he's anywhere near his old level he is an immediate upgrade in a problem position but we can hope he's the bag of nerves last seen at Southampton.

Didn't see you saying Davis was a gamble Hamish, and so far he has been bang average, but aye ok FF is a gamble.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So many were way too quick at writing Davis off after a couple of games saying he was finished after he hadn't played regular first team football for six months.
Davis was a gamble and it looked like a bad one for a couple of months. Since then though he's strolled through games and added some class to our midfield.
Much easier for a GK to get going again in fairness.
Lack of match sharpness doesn't apply too much.
He'll likely be in goals on Sunday then both games next week.

Trawling articles from years ago on a proposed signing
TWO belters here - Lennon quoted this morning saying that firstly 'I've no idea how much money there is to spend' with days left in the window the manager has no clue how much money there is?? Baffling.
secondly 'Fans need to lay off Peter Lawwell' the only bit he forgot to say was 'My Daddy' in front of Peter
i'm absolutely going to listen to pellegrino, he done a fine job at southampton.
Least he is not a thug who kicks out constantly
