VC just wants to argue

Correct, and you even more the irony of that comment

But Manc Python doesn’t need to bring up a comparative.

...............

Why not? Do you want to stop people using comparisons?

Your issue is Python, nothing more nothing less.

posted on 4/9/19

Because it has no relevance. Why does it need to be brought up? It’s stupid to try and compare the situations. It’s just whatabouttery.

posted on 4/9/19

You are ignorant to the fact that people can have difference of opinion

.................

This is the crux of it with Winston.

Python even said "for me" twice, showing it was his opinion.

posted on 4/9/19

Because it has no relevance.

...........

Not to you. It clearly did to Python.

posted on 4/9/19

Well yes in the sense that he’s playing down racism. But it’s not relevant in terms of the actual subject of the op.

Even if not entirely relevant, abusing someone about their dead relative is every bit as bad as racism in my book. Abuse is abuse.

posted on 4/9/19

Of course he was. He’s literally complaining about the amount of coverage racism gets in the media and then claims something else is worse.

Staggering comments on here today - an obscene level of ignorance.

Or the article.

..............

Well, it was unless you are wearing blinkers.

"Racism is shocking and needs to be dealt with however why is it that it gets all the attention in the media yet what is worse for me is the disgusting comments such as the one directed at Scott Brown".

Racism was the topic, Dave.

Don’t be an idiot. targeting someone’s to abuse them about a dead relative is directly aiming to hurt them in a specific personal manor, as is racism. Both are vile. But I don’t really think one is worse than the other, both are equally vile instances of abuse and should not be tolerated.

And it was his opinion.

No one said you have to agree with him. But to dismiss it as irrelevant just shows narrow mindedness or in your case probably pettiness because you don't like Python as a poster.

By you mostly because you can't accept other peoples opinions.

Me the idiot?

Read your comment back - its facking ridiculous.

Racism is about more than just an insult at any given moment.

And using insults about your dead sister isn’t?

posted on 4/9/19

Yeah, nailed it. Couldn't finish off one sentence without downplaying racism and bringing up another topic.

............

It is his opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

I get where he is coming from.

I would be less inclined to kick the crap out of someone if they threw racial abuse at me than I would if someone used a death in my family to insult me.

posted on 4/9/19

I’m narrow minded because I don’t think someone should be comparing abuse to downplay racism. I love ja606.

Not really, no. An insult is a remark, an isolated act.

Racism is something that affects millions of people every single day - it is the basis for prejudice across society and it's way more than just an insult.

What I think you were saying - albeit poorly - is that you think a racist insult is as bad as an insult about a dead relative?

In which case, you're not thinking this through properly.

Does it upset the recipient an equal amount? Quite possibly, yes.

But the issue of racism runs way deeper and shouldn't be compared to a simple insult.

So, the measure of severity is how much it angers the recipient?

Jeez, the ignorance is flowing today.

I get what you are saying winston, and I agree it’s a huge problem, but what it effectively comes down to is the level of hurt felt by the recipient. I have to agree with VC about how I would respond to either insult.

But not relevant to the original topic, so back on point.

"but what it effectively comes down to is the level of hurt felt by the recipient."

How on earth have you come to that conclusion?
