Sorry, I guess I was wrong. I thought Man Utd played 4-4-2 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Overwhelmingly, we did, particularly in his early years. But so did nearly all English sides in the nineties.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He would have been a pretty crap manager if other managers came in and overran the 4-4-2 in midfield and he did nothing to combat it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just want so say, in Champions League finals playing against teams playing 4-3-3, Ferguson played 4-4-2 in both 2008 and 2011.

Mate, I don't know what you're even arguing, I'm gonna be honest.

What have I said that's wrong that I haven't already admitted?

What is wrong with that comment? He played 4-4-2, that's a fact as far as I'm aware. Is it wrong?

Ffs

TOOR said that SAF would do things to prevent being outmanned in midfield against the 433, right?

You said that he played a 442 against two 433 sides in cl finals, right?

I said that those games are still examples of him doing things tactically to prevent being outmanned in midfield because he had a CM play wide and tuck in, right?

You said "so?"

That's literally all this is

What have I said that's wrong? I don't actually understand? You seem to think that I said that Ferguson couldn't adjust his tactics and always had to play traditional 4-4-2.

I never said that. Not once.

No it's not wrong but I dont understand what point you are making with it.

It reads like you think those 2 games are examples of SAF not doing something to prevent being overran in midfield against a 433.

That's how I interpreted it, which I think is fair enough, and so just pointed out that he still did something tactically to prevent being outmanned in midfield in those games.

That's all this is

Well then you misinterpreted it.

I said Sir Alex played 4-4-2 in his last few seasons apart from one season.

I was told this was wrong.

I was then called an idiot

I then pointed out to said person that called me an idiot that he did actually play 4-4-2 in two of his biggest games in that time period. Just saying.

"Sir Alex never changed it."
"Sir Alex always played a 4-4-2."

That's all that people were disputing.

Yes but that comes from people taking always way too literally. Obviously he didn't play the exact formation every single game. I mean he generally favoured the 4-4-2 apart from one or two seasons.

He played a CM 'wide' in both games though so it was hardly a classic 442
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. And after the Madrid one he began using different formations in most European games.

As you were too young to know, you should Google it. There are many sources if you don't believe the people who weren't too young.
