I think Greenwood is better off out wide for the moment. He gets isolated centrally in this team and isn’t sharp enough yet to impact games in the prem, especially given his size. Out wide he gets more soace and time on the ball, both of his goals have come when playing wide drifting inside.
Hard to say with Tuanzebe as he’s not played much in the premier league. He’s looked solid when he has played for us, and I wouldn’t be averse to seeing how he gets on alongside Maguire in the league as I think his athleticism would potentially make for a better partnership than Lindelof does - though it doesn’t address the weakness in the air of the second cb, loaning Smalling was daft.
I’m ok with Gomes being gradually introduced into senior football, depending on how he gets on this season maybe a loan next season will be beneficial for him.
There’s always gonna be some fans who expect far too much from certain youth players, especially those from exotic locations but the fact is very few every make it. Then factor in the state of this current United side and how much harder it will be for the youngsters to impress.
Ignoring the stats, I'm not his biggest fan. Because he takes 10 touches to do very little with the ball. And when a team is only likely to score on the counter (as is our most likely avenue of goals) that's counterproductive.
I do think he's been slightly better in his last couple of matches though
As much as you don't want to pin all creativity on one player I think with the limited options we have in midfield we'd be better of with McT and Pereira/Fred/Matic doing the donkey work to allow Pogba a bit more freedom going forward. We could really do with another creative player in there though. Big time!
