3000 would have been the away fans allocation who were banned (although they did manage to sneak in a few).
So 6k short of sold out for a midweek game with a team in horrendous form playing a less than glamorous tie.
I'd say we have a pretty good fan base and good support, unlike other teams. I mean just look at City...
the attendance last night was at least 5-10k more than i expected for that kind of fixture, because of the lack of away fans it was a good attendance considering spurs actually count through the door tickets as capacity rather than just those sold like arsenal and west ham do.
Funny how it is always Chelsea fans banging on about attendance.
How many did you not take to the Super cup final recently?

City got 49,308 for less attractive oppo
I thought it was a really good gate considering there were very few away fans and there is a great deal of frustration amongst our following at the moment.
The stadium certainly hides empty seats much better than Arsenal, West Ham and Citys does. It looked virtually full on the tv.
I assume most of the empty seats must have been up in the Gods?

The tickets were not open to general sale to stop Red Star fans attending the game due to their ban you facking mug. Do your research. Only ST holders and club members could acquire tickets.

Same for most clubs for most games these days. Big fan bases rarely use the general sale excuse

Fair enough. But matchday revenue is dwarfed by commercial rev. Arsenal thought the Emirates would let them compete with United, and neglected commercail revenue. They realised their folly now and have nearly caught Chelsea in commercial rev.
Also, all last season you blamed Wembley for not selling out.
It would be different at 3PL, you said.
Not even a dozen competitive games at your new ground and you can't fill it
I take it this CFC under a new name?
Anyway I think on this occasion you are turning your guns on the wrong target. We had 2.5k more than City and although I can't get an exact figure I'm told Atlanta had a very healthy away support.
We have had a wretched start to the season and there were a handful of away fans in the ground so I would suggest that anything over 50k wasn't bad.
These things can be spun however you like. For example you can correctly say 9k empty seats and I can correctly say 12k more than Chelsea had against Valencia. Either way its the result that really matters.
