Go at them from the start and this should be over by half time and we will virtually be into the last 32

....................Patricio
....Dendoncker, Coady, Saiss
Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre
....Jimenez, Cutrone, Neto

Assuming the players you mention are out then i would go with this though i would imagine MGW featuring ahead of Neto

That would be my starting 11 too with the exception of the front row,
Traore....Jimenez.....Cutrone or me

That's for me not or me. I don't really rate myself as being as good as Cutrone

I knew someone was missing, i just didn't care enough to think about it whilst watching the NFL

I would try Neto instead of Cutrone, can’t go to the game as working in London that day, gave my ticket to girl next to me in North Bank, does anyone know a pub in central London where Wolves fans maybe watching? Will

Wonder if Neto will be shunned for a week after the telling off he got

posted on 3/11/19

That said i just took a look and noticed he did get on yesterday in the 91st minute so that is good news, we need him as an option

I don’t think Jiminez and Cutrone works as a partnership so I would play Neto instead of Jota.

Wouldn't be opposed to that and agree Jimi and Cutrone isn't thus far looking like it will work particularly well

I'd play Cutrone and rest Jimenez. I feel a bit sorry for Cutrone, he needs game time but doesn't get a lot of it and when he has it's generally been in a negative system.

It would be good to see him in a 343 where we can get the ball in the box. He gets in all the right positions just seems to be lacking a bit in sharpness. A game where we should dominate possession seems made for him if we can keep playing a more positive system.

Also with the stuff about Jimenez and Cutrone not working; I don't really think any forward pairing has worked in general this season. Even Jota and Jimenez. We've generally left them too isolated and asked them to do too much.

It's only when we have been a bit more positive and played 3 up top that this game have generally looked better. I'd say it's a bit unfair to judge Jimenez and Cutrone playing together based on that.

Jiminez and Cutrone are both best playing the central forward role and I would see Cutrone as the cover for Jiminez. Neto and Jota are both best played behind the central strikers and coming in from the channels. So to me the best blend is going to be Jiminez or Cutrone playing with Jota or Neto

Jimenez is good enough to play the wider role in a front three. We saw him do that a few times last season. In particular in the Chelsea game when MGW played through the middle.

To rule them both out of playing together is really restricting. What if they both hit a run of goal scoring form? Are we just going to only play one because it didn't work a few times early on in Cutrone's Wolves career.

The one principle I would always put forward for team selection is that you play your best players in their best position and build the team around that. I’m sure Jimenez could play wide but why move him from a position where to me he has been outstanding, and what is surely his best position.

Would go:
Ruddy
Traore
Dendoncker
Coady
Saiss
Vinagre
Moutinho
Neves
Cutrone
MGW
Neto

With MGW in a forward position. Agree that with a bit more support up top Cutrone has enough about him to really come good. If MGW doesn’t produce the goods then yank him off at half time bring Jonny on and put Traore up front.

Injuries, suspensions, players being out of form. In an ideal world, none of those things will happen and everyone can play in their best position, be on top form and we could play the same team every week.

In reality that doesn't happen and I'm a firm believer we should play players in whatever position and in whatever system is best for the overall team performance. Not what is best for an individual performance.

As I say playing the best players in their best position is what’s best for the team in my opinion. If someone has to play out of position I would make that a less important player

posted on 4/11/19

I would play a stronger forward line than that personally wulfrun and by that I mean one that includes Jiminez and Traore. This Thursday to me is the most important game in the group stage. Win it and qualification for the next stage becomes close to assured. If we don’t win then the last two games become quite pressured. So I would field the strongest available team.

Reading that Doherty is still struggling with the knee he injured pre season and went down on that on Saturday which is what caused him to come off. But he is still hopeful of being fit enough to play on Thursday
