At least sign Bournemouth’s best striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This aint football manager, we need to find a player who will be happy as plan B
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Utd have two strikers and a child. That's it.
Callum Wilson would eat his own poo to be a plan b anyway Id have thought.
There are so many games left this season. Buying someone shiiiiiiiiiit who runs the channels seems a bit remiss to me. Saying that Im all for it.
Signing Callum Wilson is hardly football manager stuff.
Some valid concerns raised earlier about mandzukic not having kicked a ball for Juventus all season.
Be just our luck that we sign him and like sanchez he is not up to it, which given his age is a real possibility.
Those concerns are fair. Even still, he’d be much better for us than Sanchez was. It’s not possible for anyone to be that bad.
Mandzukic isn't just someone to hit with crosses. Technically he's pretty and can hold up the ball. By no means am I saying he's the answer to all our problems, but he's a good realistic option as a plan B
Not unless you’re signing from the third tier of English football anyway.

Who knows, Plan B at a club in a bit of a mess might not be that tempting.
Signing a player that doesn't interrupt Martial's progress is a headache, we did it once already with Zlatan and we'll never know where Martial might be now if he hadn't have come in.
How did Zlatan stall Martial’s progress?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously?
Martial was our #9, Zlatan arrived and took his place and his shirt (literally).
I'm not saying it was a bad signing, but it certainly hindered Martial progress as our striker.
Cant see Martial being any better than he is without or without Zlatan tbh.

He wasn’t playing as our striker under Van Gaal. Signing Lukaku was a far bigger problem for Martial, in that regard. Martial’s progress has been far more to do with the coaching and his own attitude than it has been the position he’s played in.
When people say Mandzukic will be short term, do they mean he'll be coming on a loan till the end of the season? Do you think that's what Juve will be looking at? Juve will want to off load their dross and Mandzukic will be looking for his last big pay day...
Stay well clear I say...
It’s been mooted that he could come in on an 18 month deal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm, he definitely was.
Rashford got a bit of a look in when Martial was injured and he stepped up, but for the vast majority of LvG's time here, Martial was #9
I wonder what he would have been better at
Rooney was playing up front. Martial was shifted to the left very early on in the season because Depay was so bad.
Ole is showing a belief and trust in martial that I dont think he ever had from Jose and you can see the difference in his performances as result.

Hard to answer without knowing where he would have played. Perhaps he'd have a better understanding of how to play as a no.9? Perhaps he'd be better at sniffing out the scrappy goals?

I think that is a fair point.
Perhaps it would have been nothing at all. I get the whole FIFA training times and learning from other players on FM but Id be extremely surprised if it had any effect on his ability whatsoever.

So you don't think that him playing more regularly and as a striker would have helped him develop as a striker?
