I rarely get to the football as usually on a Saturday I’m round all your houses while you’re at games.

Been to almost every ground in Scotland.

In England
Every EPL ground including some of the original ones
Most Championship grounds and quite a few lower league grounds (watched Villa over 9 years home and away in most competitions)

Cologne
Munch
Moenshengladbach?
Barcelona
Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid
Villareal
Celta Vigo
Lazio/Roma
AC/Inter
Tenerife
Lyon
PSG

ffs I give up

Too many

You win

The bit I miss are the older grounds giving way to these out of town meccano sets.

Coventry
Middlesboro
Soutampton
etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This!

Spot on Ginger. The old grounds had character, unlike atmosphere and history. Disappointing to see clubs sell out and give all that up for corporate boxes.

I was going to games a lot in the late 70s, early 80s, so I experienced a lot of the terracing culture in the old grounds.

Some memorable experiences.

Old Trafford in the 80s for Celtic v rapid Vienna (long story why I was at that game)
Hampden - 1980 cup final riot
Hampden - 1978 Scotland v England
Hampden - early 80s Scotland v Argentina with maradona playing.
Rangers v Celtic at old Ibrox 1977, and Celtic park in the 70s.
Tyncastle - hearts v rangers - mid 80s
Tanadice - United v rangers - mid 80s
Pitodrie - v rangers - mid 80s
Old Wembley - early 90s - U2 concert, on pitch.

I miss the atmosphere at the old grounds.

Safe standing looks a good option for future.

Totally agree mate

We need more initiatives for getting kids along to games. Outside the top few clubs in the Premiership, there are ageing match going fanbases. Once this demographic stop going to games then there will be a gap that has not been filled (lol) and we need to fill this gap from the bottom up (lol).

Safe standing and encourage kids to go along and start a wee singing section. I have seen some at Livingston and Dumbarton where they have their own little section. Atmosphere is also pretty crap with mainly old people.

Prices for kids are a joke. I used to go to Liverpool in the early 80's with my old man. £2 entry. 50p a programme. Hot Bovril 25p and a scouse pie for a £1.

My mate told me he took his lad the other week and nearly had to remortgage his house.

The initiatives should be as simple as drop the fookin prices for kids, it's the next generation.
£50 for a weans old firm ticket is a fookin scandal and shame on both clubs
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agree but they are private businesses and whilst they have the demand this is what they will do. Fans demand money spent on facilities, players and the like won't be happy seeing some of that go to give away cheaper tickets right now.

The problem is deeper rooted. We simply have far too many clubs. Scotland should have two leagues and that's it.

Supply and demand for Old Firm games I guess. I am sure clubs have done some elasticity analysis to determine the optimum price point for making the most money. Also the fact that some people still go despite it being too expensive. It's just about milking the loyal fans instead of attracting new ones.
We have trialled opening an unused end stand and making that free for students as it is a student city. Worked a little bit but think they may have been put off by the standard of football.

How about a "pay what you can" stand which would have been empty anyway. It would be a good initiative for poverty stricken places like Dundee. Good PR for the club.

Possibly because it's the worst ground in the history of ground.

Wind right off the Moray Firth, in the deepest reaches of an industrial park. Hated by the locals and visitors alike.

Gayfield must run it hella close.
1. Its spitting distance from the North Sea
2. It is absolutely Baltic/always windy
3. Its in fecking Arbroath ffs...…

From its Wiki page;

'The Red Lichties Gayfield Park ……. is the closest to the sea in Britain, a traditional style ground exposed to the elements......on stormy winter days, waves beat on the walls surrounding the ground.'

I have been there a few times. It is absolutely grim.
