In general Özil keeps the ball better than Gwendo. He has more experience and knows better when to make the play quicker or when to slow it down and keep the ball.

Ozil kept giving the ball away. Has done so ridiculous amounts (by his standards) this season. That's the worst thing about this “He must play” crap. He's not even doing what he was good at anymore. The sublime passing that supposedly makes him worth it, just hasn't been there.
One relatively simple back heel or mid range pass several other players are capable of, doesn't count. I'm talking the “Only I can do this sh!t!” Mesut Ozil Vision, wonderpasses. You know the stuff we paid/pay him so much money for. Without that, he's a whole new level of liability. Now he's giving nothing to make up for his lack of anything else. Literally deadweight it defence AND attack now too.
Oh and Ozil offloads the ball as soon as he sees players coming. Doesn't get into keeping possesion under pressure or driving forward ball at feet like Gwen. It's annoying Ozil wussies out because when he sometimes gets left no choice and has to, he's got proper twinkle toes. He's brilliant at it. Many a game we'd have won if he had the balls to take the ball through players. A true utter waste of god given talent

Incredulous that some Arsenal fans are still backing Ozil. I can only assume the delusion that he still belong in any Arsenal 1st XI or even at the club stems from sheer and utter hopeless desperation.

I'm not talking about Guendouzi and the fact that you are even comparing Guendouzi to Ozil is laughable, they primarily operate in totally different areas of the midfield and that aside, one puts in tonnes of effort and the other doesn't give a chit and should be released on a free transfer as a statement that we won't tolerate players with chit attitudes if we can't attract a buyer.

If we ain't careful Pep'll come a sniffin and ext thing we know, he will be. We're safe this window though. Gwen still needs a little more blooding and Pep'll be shopping for a few defenders and maybe a striker in Jan. He's set in MF for now.
Where have I compared both players?
Gwendouzi is 20 years old and can't have that experience that Özil has. Gwendo is one of our best players this season and with his passion and fighting spirit helped Arsenal to turn around some games in our favour. But at times he dwells too long on the ball and decides to play the ball sideways, back and sideways (watch our game yesterday first half). He will learn and under a better manager he can be turned into one of the best midfielder in Europe.

He gives his all defending for the team. Losing possesion in the defensive positions he does is more about our overall defensive chaos leaving him in ridiculously pressured defensive situations. He's repeatedly being played into trouble.
I agree with you that he shouldn't start every game but that's more about his age/exp than talent and ability. But until we replace Ramsey, he's our only ball carrying MF option. That said, sort out the mess hoing on behind him by ending trying to play out from the back. And he'll do just fine.
Torreira, Gwen, Willock/Ceballos and even Ozil. ALL stand more chance of generating attack from pressing (half pressing in Ozil's case) to win the second ball or get it off the opposition. Than they stand to generate attack with us playing out from the back. That has to be abandoned until we have defenders good enough to do it.

I called out Ozil many many years ago and I got criticised for it. However, in the current set up, ozil has to start as there is no competition. He is best at ball retention, releasing the ball to our full backs and finding that killer pass.
If fans really belive that a player like Guendouzi should be starting week in week out for a team like arsenal then damn the expectations have really dropped.
Guendouzi might be a better option than Xhaka and Torreira but that doesn't mean she should be starting for a club of our size. The fact that he does just demonstrates how pathetic our MF is.
We still have City and Chelsea to play so that number will definitely be over 300 by the new year. City will probably break Watford record against us.
