Many minds have been scrambled by VAR
Var hasn't been used well. Kane, mane etc are still getting pens for dives. Rashford outrageous pen dive vs Spurs should have been laughed out, it still requires human input, and that's where its failing.

They still miss stuff. Or ignore it cause of the clear and obvious bs not wanting to re ref the entire game. But its still a damn lot better than human error.
They claimed to have been getting 97% right before var which is bs we know that and now 99/100% with var which again is bs we know that but theres no doubt theyre getting a good few % more decisions correct with var than they did without it.
They need to improve some things but OP is spot on.
VAR is good for the game they just need to iron some things out, not on their own either (refs) deciding to use clear and obvious error with a high bar on their own. They should discuss it with everyone involved in the game the ones who it affects, work together in making it as good as it can be by implementing it how everyone (majority) agrees it needs to be.
Even with its flaws now which can be frustrating its better than human error and corruption. Its a lot harder for refs and cheats to get away with dodgy stuff now thats for sure.
New VAR rules
Any goal scored v Liverpool will be automatically disallowed
As with the introduction of any new technology, VAR will be crude and error-prone to start off with. With successive iterations however it will improve and become more and more seamless.
In terms of the recent controversies with "armpit offsides" etc, the issue isn't so much VAR as it is the laws of the game. If you think being flagged offside because your armpit is 1 inch ahead of a defender, then take issue with the laws of the game, not VAR.
If you think being flagged offside is pedantic*
They just need to do what they said it would on the tin... clear and obvious errors, they're checking every inch and nose hair. If it's that tight just let the ref decide.

Maybe what's needed is an automatic review whenever the ref requests it, and a max. of 3 reviews at each captain's discretion.

they are, theyre letting a ref with technology decide. With what doesnt look to me like the most accurate method or the quickest but still a lot better than how it used to be decided.
but as renoog said, your issues with the law if you're bothered by being offside by half a mm. Offsides, offside imo, maybe the laws need changing to just feet can be offside, but then we're still going to have toenails offside and people unhappy cause for some reason they think its unfair, its not theyre rules that apply for everyone and attackers shouldnt have any advantage over defenders either.
You're missing my point - they're only supposed to check clear and obvious terrors. An offside by 1 mm is not clear and obvious.

Its not the ref making the offside calls is it? Clearly they see the offside side of things seperate.
I'm all for VAR, however it is when it comes to the off-side decisions that I have concerns.
Players have been given off-side when their shoulder or knee is in front of the last defender by cms.
But in most cases thay are on the turn and leaning towards goal while the defender is stood straight.
I would like to see off side purely decided on the position of the feet.

Ok then assistant refs (speaking specifically about offsides), they have been the ones I've noticed as being the most controversial and against what VAR was supposed to be about.
I would include Assistant Referees in the definition of clear and obvious errors from the refs anyway, are you saying VAR do not?

I agree with this, llike someone said on the Pukki goal ruled out was it? hes punished cause hes reacted faster than the defender and has began leaning forward. Armpit crap too, it should be just feet itd make it a lot easier and fairer but not sure if theyll change the law for it.
It makes sense for the law to be changed though, as those laws were made pre VAR, VAR is a pretty big change.

I understand it not being clear and obvious error but still when you have technology there to help on such a big decision that decides games, that decides millions, decides the fate of your club etc i think it best to use it than to just say ah well close enough advantage attacker not a clear and obvious error cause hes not 2 meters offside. Where do you stop with clear and obvious error whats the distance required for it to be deemed an error anyway?

Souness and Redknapp said as much on SS. They said we are losing goals as a result of the current rules but if we changed the rule to having your foot onside, they feel it would be more exciting and we'd see more goals. I'd have to agree with that change, I mean look at the benefits, goals and more excitement. Who cannot get onboard with that. 👍

Also defenders vs attackers, everyone seems to think attackers deserve advantages.
