Pogba for Cash + Player

Kroos is still only 29? That’s not too old. A good three seasons at the top, maybe more.

Not sure he’d fancy it though.

He turned 30 today

When you look at the squad age and experience, having someone like Kroos might be ideal though. These player + cash deals never seem to happen though!

Kroos for sure. There’s a lack of experience in this team and he’s quite frankly just the much better player of the two.

Don’t really want another superstar who’s best days are behind him coming for a last big payday

Been there done that

Rabiot is absolute class and still with potential for improvement. Grab him if you can. Would be a massive signing for United if you also got a manager who knew what to do with him.

I'd prefer Kroos. Not sure why he'd want to come at this stage of the season though.

Surely there's someone out there that would improve us or at least add depth. I've mentioned it below but the Wales version of Joe Allen could do a job and would be attainable now as well. Tenacious, keeps it simple and always looks to move the ball forward quickly.

Kroos smacks af Schweinsteiger mk II. to me. He’s definitely not the same player he was 2-3 seasons ago and is starting to look leggy for Real.

Rabiot seems like a bell and wouldn’t want that headache in the squad.

Obviously this is all bull but hypothetically speaking, if it were to happen we should demand Bentancur (who’s a top player) from Juve and really test their resolve for Pogba.

Kroos is much better now than the Schweinsteiger we signed. He’s also not a crock.

Pogba is better than both, so neither makes sense to us unless we want to take yet another backward step.

High wage 29 year olds with no PL experience are not players I think we should be looking at.

Don’t know enough about Rabiot to comment.

Rabiot just gives off the impression he has a bad attitude. Don't need that, had enough of it past few years.

Not sure either really fit the profile of player that the club and Ole are looking to bring in.
Neither are a direct replacement for Pogba so will still need to sign another midfielder.

Keane and Ince were 21/22, Robson and Carrick 24/25 when they joined.

Maddison, Grealish, Milinkovic Savic have all been linked and would be candidates, at 23/24 years old their best years ahead to develop and peak with the rest of the team being assembled.

Whilst none of these will happen, Kroos is a class act and can shape the whole teams play so I'd choose that

Kroos would smack of another ageing player getting one last lucrative contract only to find his best his truly behind him as soon as he pulls on the utd shirt

posted on 4/1/20

I’ve advocated going after both in the past. I love Kroos to pieces and enjoy watching Rabiot play when he’s on it.

But thinking about what we need in terms of character in the squad and in building for the future, there are a host of midfield options id choose before either of those two now.

We need energetic, hungry, dedicated and intelligent players. Between the two of them they tick all of those boxes, but we need to see all of those attributes in every one of the players we’re recruiting now IMO.

Yeah, but there snot many players who can shape the whole team like he can, if on form. Play him deep and he'd make us tick nicely.

Nonsense anyway as pogba won't be going at least til summer.

Kroos is one of the few nearing 30 whose age doesn't bother me. He's never relied on pace and always been very consistent, we could do with some experience too.

However I'd have to question his motives for joining, i don't believe he'd be up for the move anyway.

I’d be in heavily for Milinkovic-Savic, Havertz, Zaniolo, Gedson, or someone else of that kind of age and playing profile.

Havertz would be a brilliant signing, but more for Lingard/ Matas role from what little I've seen?

SMS for me is the one to go for. Watched a lot of Serie A this season and he is one of the best in the league.

What’s makes he think he’s the real deal is that he was immense for two seasons then had a poor one after the World Cup and people thought he was a flash in the pan. But this season he’s been great and dominated Juventus’ midfield twice in two months.

posted on 4/1/20

We need quality and composure in midfield as much as anything else. All well and good having players like McTominay and Fred ferriting about the place but then they don’t do a great deal when they have the ball. Kros and Pjanic are just the players we lack in midfield. Sadly we won’t end up with either as clubs of Juve and Madrid’s standing aren’t stupid enough to part ways with them until they’re truly past their sell by date.

Just because your a regista and tidy with the ball, it doesn’t mean we can get away with carrying people.

Case and point - see how many players just glide past Matic to break our lines. Mata is another good example of the whole “experience and never relied on pace argument”. The pace of the PL often means it’s different to other leagues that value a conductor type more.

Kroos was an amazing player, but I guarantee you Real will be looking to bring in a new CM for him next season.

posted on 4/1/20

Problem with those examples is that those two players aren’t, and have never been, in Toni Kroos’ class. Real Madrid may replace him, it’s Madrid, but then he’ll probably end up at City and we’ll all be wondering why we struggle in midfield still and they dominate.
