I think the main thing is fitness mate to be honest
If you're fitter than your opponents it is so much easier to dominate them no matter how good they are.
In the PL it matters less as everyone is superhuman and then it comes to who's actually a better football player.
It's clear half our squad is not good enough with an actual football at their feet

We’ve got 428 games in January, and a squad squeaking at the seems. Better to let Lingard get slaughtered than one of the kids have their confidence shattered.
