Yes, fair enough. Although I always had a soft spot for Stallone’s Judge Dredd. Although you could argue that Dredd is a reboot rather than a remake.
I have missed out a lot of movies that are remakes of foreign films, because either I’ve not seen the original or the remake.

Man on Fire.

Great film
Out of the four films listed in the OP, I'd say The Thing is the best remake, vastly surpassing the original

Hang on, wasn’t there a 50’s the thing, and 80’s one and a 10’s reboot?
If you mean the 80’s one, that’s one of the best horror films ever, the special effects are grotesquely amazing. 10/10 film imo.
Scarface?
but i always thought the film was ok. a good film.
but a bit over rated for me.
Preferred Carlito's Way
Great shout about ‘Man on Fire’ although I’ve never seen the original. The 2004 version is top notch.
Never seen the original 47 Ronin
Never seen the original Scarface, but the 83 version is one of my favourites
Thing had a version in the 50s, 80s and 2011 (although never seen the 2011 version. Is it a remake?)
I meant the 80s remake 👍
Another decent remake is ‘Magnificent Seven’ although it’s not as good as ‘Seven Samurai’
I meant the 1960 Magnificent Seven not the recent terrible one.

Other that it being a Western, it was actually more similar to Seven Samurai than the Thing (1982) was to The Thing from Another World (1951)
But I see your point
I actually felt ‘The Fast and the Furious (2001)’ was very similar to the original ‘Point Break (1991)’
Enjoyed both movies and FF1 would’ve been a worthy remake much better than the terrible 2015 version

Oh yes, you see I have not seen the original, same with the The Grudge, only seen the Sarah Michelle Gellar one.

Oh no, Robert Downey Jr
I liked both the Rex Harrison and Eddie Murphy version, even if both were a little silly

I liked the Eddie Murphy nutty professor the original is still class of course, but I can watch the Murphy one again and again and still laugh
Please don’t mention his Sherlock, you have a billion good British actors and then make Robert Downey Stark Sherlock Holmes, I’m not his biggest fan (although he did a good job in Chaplin who was British too 👍)
Good about on Nutty Professor (1996), very funny and rewatchable
