The only true way to see it is an along the line view!..
Camera angles if not right can sometimes give a false impression!..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we can't agree on whether it was over the line, surely the ref and linesman deserve a break here? It was a split second decision. The real issue for me is WTF Alioski was doing way out of position hauling a player down in the box when there was another defender about to challenge for the ball.
Our defense looked like rabbits the headlights every time the ball came into our box, need a few clean sheets to calm the nerves back there, because we seem to panic now in those positions.

Read some poor stuff on this thread
Douglas is injured.
League is weaker - well it contains 18/24 teams that were in it last season!
Bamford didn’t up his game. He’s been excellent all season bar some missed chances. The two goals were absolute golden chances from a yard or 2 out - these are the chances people have moaned about him missing. We simply created better chances as a team last night.
No issues with bamfords reaction. Roofe and Wood have both done similar. The issue is the morons in the crowd who spend their energy slagging off players and referees rather than backing the team. I hope his reaction hits home with a few fans.
Still to see conclusive evidence ball was out of play. In any case alioski gave away the penalty not the referee.

Roofe and Wood have both done similar.

Is this supposed to justify it?

No. I am happy he did it. Wish the entire team had done it in truth!
I remember Lee Chapman doing the same also on his second spell...

Just a word on Bamford's celebration that may have been missed.
He gets a lot of support but also a lot of criticism. During the warmup some 'fans' were jeering when he was missing or scoring shots in the drill. Happened away at Preston last year too.
Perfectly within his right to celebrate like that.

You dont think hes had a good season performance wise? (excluding finishing).
Personally i think hes been excellent. Attacking and defensive work rate and link up play all top notch.
Christiano will be / could be debated all day long..
my thoughts are, he has been excellent this season, chases everything, totally loyal to the team's needs.. he puts himslf about too, rattles up the defenders.. I've been a massive Christiano supporter all season, backed him to the hills..
but, his finishing has been awful.. when he gets a chance I just don't feel confident in the slightest he will score.. was so pleased for him bagging 2 last night.
I'm hoping this kick starts him into finishing better, being a finisher its all about confidence
i think christi i mean patrick has been very good this season. every striker misses chances and he's nowhere near the amount missed by salah.
if you back him his celebration means fak all. if your booing him in practice it pi**es you off. good on him.
7th top scorer in the league now.
Watkins 18
Mitrovic 18
Bowen 16
Grabban 16
Grant 13
Wells 13
Bamford 12
We played ok first half just had no luck. Their first goal was an error from Ayling. He lost his man. The second was probably the refs fault but we have to take it.
Second half was one way traffic but we had something that has been missing lately - a bit of luck!
Bamford’s first was a nice rebound from the keepers save. He was just there to tap it home.
Pablo’s shot took a deflection otherwise it might have been saved.
Two fairly lucky goals and finally some luck went our way.
Not sure about Bamford’s ear covering but looking at his face when he went into the ground he wasn’t happy. I’m not fussed. If he’s saying “take that” to the fans that keep having a go at him then I’m ok with that. Strikers need confidence and constantly getting on their backs helps nobody.

Spot on with all of the above!
I referee on a regular basis, almost daily(every day this week, some days two a day but not at all tomorrow) and I have to laugh at some of the comments I hear from my mates while watching Leeds games, here and JA606.
Firstly, I fumed when Dallas took that shot, Nilwall keeper saves it and goal kick is given! Not only should CR see that but what about AR!?!?!?
That said, the ball on the line just before the penalty kick was clearly still in play! The view we have is from such an angle that the error of parallax makes us think it is out. When I discussed it with my mates, they explained its out because the ball is not touching the line. I explain that one has to view it as if from directly above and it’s only out once the ball completely breaks the plane and one can see a gap between ball and line. Then they agree, it was not out.

Look carefully....
So, while we see horrific errors, Berardi being assaulted in Arsenal game is another perfect example, fan ignorance makes it all seem worse sometimes, in my opinion.
I’m also amused at how the very few spectators at my games will howl about calls that are 100% good yet will miss the occasional ones that in hindsight I conclude were errors, either by me or colleagues.

I don't know why it's so hard to find conclusive evidence, took me 10 seconds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This picture completely supports what I have written above, thanks for sharing it.
Regarding “run out of steam,” what’s everyone’s definition or understanding of this phrase?
I think most may think of it in a physical sense - knackered and not able to run as fast or be competitive for all 96 minutes or so of play.
As I believe Jonty May have alluded to in one of his posts above, with Bielsa’ steaks I think it refers to mental fatigue.
That said, what’s up with Cooper? While he has blown hot and cold in the past, up until recently he has been playing very solidly. Last night he was poor and on one occasion, he took a swing at a seemingly straight forward ball with his stronger left foot and it hit him on his right leg!
As I recall, he was totally at fault for the goal that pinged around the 6 yard area, having 2 chances to clear it!
Oops my bad, Cooper’s failure to clear did not result in a goal. Still some shockers from him last night.
I do have grave reservations about Cooper in the
big games...don't think he's that good pressure
situations, especially against pace...think the head
goes a bit too.
Another player I have doubts able to handle the
Premier league.
Turning round a two goal deficit and bagging the points last night was nothing to do with luck. It wasn't luck that won it. It was sheer determination and team spirit. Nothing to do with luck.

JLA - the trouble with fans is 99.9% of them don’t know the laws of the game and are trying to argue with the only 3 or so people in the stadium who do.
Would you expect a person to get on a bus or train and start driver how to drive?
Would we go for a meal in a restaurant and start telling the chef how to cook?
The man in the the middle is the professional doing is best to apply the laws of the game in a very fast sport and in the main they get most things right.
Had to laugh last night when there were several screaming offside around me for an offside against Matt Smith who’d clearly come back from an “offside position “ to head the ball on - only it was a goal kick!
Sunday I was at a youth match and the parents were all shooting at the referee for offside when the lad was still in his own half when he received the through ball.
They should start putting football law books on seats before the game starts
The parents were shouting at the referee. I think some would love to shoot them also.
Kebab, back in the day when I was the referee administrator of my local league of 1,200 kids, I asked the coach administrator if I could get 15 minutes during his annual coaches’ training. In that time I went over the 3 areas that seem to cause the most ignorant expressions of outrage:
1) ball in/out of play,
2) handling (or what we have all called “handball&rdquo,
3) offside.
I believe it made a difference and we experienced a decrease in unnecessary unpleasantness at the fields.
The FA, EFL, PRO, etc., should get together and produce 2-3 minute videos on each issue for playing on the screens in stadiums and by Sky, BBC, etc before and during games.
Refs meet with World Cup squads to go over laws and new initiatives before each World Cup.
It’s mostly about education.
