This springs from them being charged and convicted of racism by uefa.
Rather than defend their supporters (as Celtic are doing here), they just set out to level the playing field by having Celtic tarred as racist too.

Let's be honest, rangers started this with their post match comments about racism.

It's exactly the same scenario as the ticket allocation fiasco. Rangers started it. Celtic will not take it lying down.
Rangers should be more careful which fights they start...in fact they should consider not starting any at all. Lawwell is a good guy to have in your corner in these situations.
King is absent, douglas park is a glorified car salesman and bus driver and traynor is a joke.
Just to be clear, as all Celtic fans on here have stated, if there was racist abuse of any player that day it should be dealt with if the perpetrators can be identified.
However, I believe that Celtic did rangers a favour that day by not pursuing a number of unsavoury incidents in the tunnel after the match. I suspect Lawwell's patience is exhausted.
And anyone who thinks that Lawwell has started this ball rolling without knowing exactly what happened is absolutely barking.
You can be sure that he knows who, what, how and when.

I get the feeling Celtic know the answers already, and as the interview was so public and reported so widely, want to ensure that the answers are done the same way.
---------------------------
I reckon that's the case too.
I do stand by my opinion (based on little actual experience) that the media industry are exactly renowned for their humility.
FWIW - whilst potentially damaging to Celtic it was also extremely irresponsible, in terms of stoking up an already tense situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I think that’s why Celtic in this instance are right to ask who and why?
Btw-your club were asked to comment on this by the Sun and declined. Gerrard answering a question in a presser is a bit different.

This is about a deliberate attempt by someone to quite literally put defaming words into Morelos' mouth. And you don't want to know who did this and why it was done??
Why wouldn't you want to know that? The only reason that I can think of is that somebody, somewhere has something to hide and has a vested interest in burying this story as deep as possible. Or am I missing something?

But Celtic have not had a stand/section closed by uefa...so the optics are different on the two clubs.

I'll stand by that comment.
Think back to when David Murray was initially trying to wring every last penny out of the club. He realised that his European ambitions could have been thwarted by the behaviour of their supporters.
They asked them to moderate the songbook. The reason was that it was holding Rangers back and could damage the club. Never that it was wrong.
IIRC, the same logic was applied to the Mo Johnston signing.
Btw..some could apply the same logic to Celtic and the CA situation. I might agree with that.
