Btw-your club were asked to comment on this by the Sun and declined. Gerrard answering a question in a presser is a bit different.

--------------------------------------------

He still commented though.

Don't know about The Sun - maybe Gerrard doesn't speak to them? I don't buy it so can't be sure..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The club declined to comment-not Gerrard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Slightly splitting hairs? Given the other issues on this topic.

I'd argue that the Manager is one of, if not the, main face of a football club

It’s Traynor.

They know it’s Traynor.

They pointedly used the phrase, “sporting journalism.”

I know no bears that will speak up for him so we might be doing them a favour if he goes because of this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Traynor mis-translated? Or purposely asked someone to mis-translate?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does it matter?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It terms of effect, no - it terms of how we got here, maybe?

It's quite a claim to prove though...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think that’s why they've gone ofcom. The regulator has extensive powers. If nothing else guys will be getting baws felt by bosses but they’ll have to name someone responsible. Maybe someone will take a fall for it but it will cost to do that. The agent is the most likely because everyone knows most have few scruples but you can be sure he will make it worth his while.

"It's quite a claim to prove though..." don't need to prove anything - that's all down to Ofcom now. Once they are involved I think we can be assured that we have not heard the last of this. Sky will not certainly not wish to be on bad terms with their regulator.

With all the hysteria on either side it's hard to judge the real story.

I reckon it was the usual journo practise of trying to spice up an interview that went far too far rather than a deliberate attempt to lie - surely journos must be aware of potential legal issues if they do that.

Tell you what though - Aberdeen fans are benefiting from all this 'deflection'....

What we can take from this it’s clearly DeBear who completed the translation for Sky.

It’s ripping out of him

Celtic fans are awful quick to jump to conclusions, there was never anyone below Morelos’ car but the story on the private investigator is 100% true, it’s Traynor now...

As for surprise at us no issuing a statement, I’m more surprised we didn’t get one out for the car incident, or other times he’s been abused. But maybe we have and I’ve just taken no notice
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A guy was charged with breach of the peace. Bit of an odd charge for someone allegedly tampering with brakes/planting a bomb?!

And your club released a statement after the match in December.

I'd be interested to know (as I've no idea) how much 'bite' Ofcom have with Sky...

I don’t think it’s splitting hairs at all. Your club haven’t been slow to fire out statements in recent years over anything that’s come up. Here’s one of their players being completely and deliberately misquoted over a volatile situation and they’ve got nothing to say? Gerrard is asked a question in a press conference-he knows he has to give an answer.

Celtic haven’t mentioned it being anything to do with rangers in either of their statements. They have though stuck up for your player. You would have thought that the club would have an official stance on that, no?

There was some hysteria around that

My first thought was that it was a journo or paparazzi put a tracker on.

I saw a comment on twitter (I know) saying that this happens t a lot of Colombian players abroad after the person had said that Morelos referred to the thing as El Nino.

The person never followed it up - I really wanted to know what the background to that was...

And no one said there wasn’t anyone below Morelos’ car-what has been said is that it’s physically impossible to get under a Lamborghini without it being jacked up.

To be fair, when you start going down the road of the ridiculous idea about dusties being taken, then it’s obvious that you know yourself the story was blown out of all proportion, and that something else was at play.

“Lets be honest here - there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Morelos hasn't been racially abused by a tiny majority of celtic fans.”

A majority of fans DeBear? Another one of those dodgy translations?

I'm afraid I don't 100% share your confidence in that.

FWIW - I didn't really think the second celtic statement was pathetic and can 100% see why they would not be happy about it.

My view on journos is aligned to the Spitting Image puppet versions - for those old enough to remember.

I worded my post like that for two main reasons -

To imitate the style of the celtic poster's response to Rangers' statements in the past on here.

And secondly to 'promote' some debate

Yes, it seems so (on a second reading).

However - 100% not intentional.

Kudos for being the only one (including me) to spot that hideous attempt at the correct grammar...

The silence from Rangers FC is deafening on this.

Their star player is in the brightest of spotlights between Celtic, the entire Scottish media and the biggest ppv broadcaster in Europe and they haven’t a single word to say. I find that baffling tbh.

Ofcom is just as likely to ask Sky the question which will be fudged and may never make the news again or it will take so long that Morelos will be sold on before it comes out.

Sky have a few choices.

Do nothing at all and answer only to Ofcom - most likely

Sky claim it was received with interpretation and just didn’t check it but due to GDPR regulations or some other nonsense can’t reveal their source. - likely

Sky inform Celtic privately where it came from - unlikely.

I doubt there will be any satisfactory resolution.

My thoughts for what they are worth is that Traynor has tried this on and it’s spectacularly backfired; and Rangers know it. Hence no involvement from them at all. They’ll be struggling as to how to deal with the and the CarTell problem, so they’ll just keep in the background and hope it goes away.

But it must be affecting the player. He’s been used for others gain has been manipulated.
