Uncut Gems and Midsommar were my two favourites this year, neither got a nomination. The fact this was the first time ever that a ‘foreignm film has won best picture just shows how stupid the Oscars are.

Btw I did enjoy Parasite.

Midsommar was great - faaaacked up ending though 😂

Haven’t seen any of the films mentioned in this thread other than The Irishman which - as someone who rates Casino and Goodfella’s in my top 10 - was never going to live up to expectation.

Think Sandler won best actor award for that Gem film on Netflix a few days ago. Hard to see him as a serious actor, which is why I’ve swerved that film, but after some comments above I might give it a try.

There’s been some great stuff out of South Korea recently. Particularly enjoyed My Country.

99% of Sandler films are terrible, Uncut Gems and Punch, Drunk, Love being the exceptions.

Heard once upon a time in Hollywood was crap. Uncut gems, brilliant sandler performance but meh as a film. Havent seen parasite.

Happy Gilmore? Must have seen it 20 times. Definitely one of the better comedies, also according to the public. Ignore the sour critics.
