It just needs competent officials using it and then it will be better. It's already an improvement on not having it though.

I dont agree its an improvement, but agree with your first statement.

It's an improvement in that it does get most clear and obvious decisions correct.

VAR's fine.
The 'laws' need to be adapted to suit this technology.

Ffs VAR is fine, its the rules and joke officials around it that need sorting out.

This is like Titanic saying they should chop off the top of the iceberg as it's to blame for their sinking ship instead of blaming the direction that the ship had been taken over a long period of time without noticing potential issues. Pouring money into the ship is not going to make it unsinkable. Coins are heavy and yes money talks and it is very good at convincing the people that it is making things better for them, but soon enough the people will see past the brainwashing.

Has VAR improved the game?

Absolutely not imo.

I think we can all agree that the PL as we know it is dead, so who cares if Liverpool win it. It's like winning the Weakest Link or Deal or No Deal. It was great back in the day but now no one cares.

It hasn't improved it as a spectacle. I think that people do forget about life pre VAR though and just how much "wrong decisions" dominated discussions after a weekend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that is exaggerated to be honest.

When was the last big decision that VAR overturned, that would have met that description?

Genuine question btw.

Winston I think the bigger issue is not being able to celebrate goals in the same way as even a few minutes later they can be ruled out. When I am at non-VAR matches I thank Allah that there is not VAR when my team scores as I can enjoy the moment properly without having to worry that it will be taken away.

VAR just needs improvements. The rubbish im hearing about 10cm of tolerance is pointless - one simple things needs to be applied: did they gain an advantage. This keeps the human factor too.

The only other thing that needs to happen is more penalties need to be given for holding and pulling down/back - but this has always been an issue that refs dont want to tackle.

Too many people are focusing on the mistakes but ignoring the perfect decisions from var each week (red cards rescinded/given, goals disallowed/given, etc).

I don't think it needs removing. It does need improving a hell of a lot though. They definitely need to look at the offside rule and interpretation and the stupid handball rule.

At the moment I am struggling to think of a time when I have been glad its in place. Its current usage makes me wonder whether I can be bothered to watch football anymore.

One thing i think could help for the handball is the introduction of an indirect free-kick in the box for unintentional handball. Its not fair that a team is punished with a virtually guaranteed goal (pen) for what is accidental hand ball, but equally not fair that a team is denied the chance to build a goal scoring opportunity from a opponents accidental handball in the box - indirect (or direct?) freekick in the box might help this.
