Yawn, this period of good form doesn’t change much in terms of perceptions of the manager. You’re the one turning it into something boring and off topic. No one else was doing anything. Look in the mirror, you’re a mess.
++

This, and from Robb.

Of course it wont change your perception of the manager.

You won't let it. That's the mess.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would a few weeks of good results do that though? Especially when we’ve had more than our fair share of luck. Better to be lucky than good I guess but it will take more than this to convince me Ole is the guy just as a few bad results wouldn’t change people’s perceptions that he’s the right guy.

Robb's contribution on this forum:

JAN 2019 - Ole is not the right man for the job.

MARCH 2019 - Ole is the right man for the job

SEPT 2019 - Ole is not the right man for the job

MARCH 2020 - Ole is at a crossroads

In, out, shake Robb's head all about.

Robb what you can see, (which we all you wont admit until you have been proved wrong, done another I'm leaving article, disappeared for 3 months and returned eating humble pie again).. is that the plan that Ole has been working on since he arrived, you know, the one you refuse to admit that he has as he is useless coach tactically unaware, etc. etc., is showing the green shoots of some kind of success.

As the OP says there is a still a very rocky road ahead but with the backing of the club players and supporters there is real hope emerging after all the bull5hit that came before with your man, for a bright future for United under Ole.

Most people can see this.

😂 We’re miles away from a bright future under Ole. Not saying it’s never gonna happen but right now is just a purple patch with many things still to get sorted before we even say he’s better than Jose let alone that he’s the guy to lead us into the promised land. And trust me, it’s not just me that thinks that way.

Provide evidence most can see this?

What you have said is frankly a lie at worst and nonsense at best.

Very ew have faith that Ole is the man to get us back competing at the very top level.

I never said it was.

It's not about Jose anymore Robb. Let it go.

Dink, you’ve been wrong about many many things in here. And you’re far from right on Ole but you’ve become the kind of sanctimonious poster that I wish I sometimes could be but never quite reached the levels of douchebaggery

So I guess that’s something to be proud of..

Things are looking better at the moment. Long may that continue. Still a long way to go though and we could just as easily go into a slump again as we could carry on with our decent form.

I do see a bit more about the squad though recently and whilst I retain the right to reserve judgement on Ole I can't really complain much at things since the Burnley game.

Gona be a bumpy couple of months but suspect ww may just sneak top 4 and itll be Ighalo that makes the difference.

It’s difficult to get carried away by Manchester United. We’ve seen glimpses of being competitive, and, or consistent, at numerous points all throughout the post-Fergie era all for it to come crashing down, so nothing’s really changed on that front yet.

And that would still be case even if we pick up some form to qualify for the CL - as was the case with Mourinho and LVG.

That's why I try not to go over the top either after a bad defeat or a good win.

With a fair wind behind us and 2/3 top class, ready for the first XI, signings I don't think we'd be that far away from being very competitive. However, if we get that wrong then we'll be stuck in the same trap we'e been in since SAF left.

I don't think we can truly say we're 'back' until we've at least challenged for the PL title. Or at least be in contention until the last month or so.

posted on 6/3/20

Diafol, I think that’s fair. The problem is that City, and now Liverpool, have raised the bar to such a level that what would usually be seen as competitive - on a title challenging front - is in reality way off the level required.

Never in our history have we pushed near 100 points in a season. It’s a bloody ridiculous level of consistency.

That's down to a poor PL though...

I do think we could have got to 100 points if SAF really truly wanted to go for it but I think (and of course I could be wrong) he was always looking at the bigger picture and planning to win multiple titles therefore would sacrifice some of the current season in order to benefit the next. It was that continuity that marked him out as an all time great IMO.

Yeah, In 99/00 we could have had 100 points I think but we just phoned in our last 3 games. But I agree with Darren that we have never pushed so hard for that many points under SAF. It’s very hard to do and not only that but keep up - Jose’s Chelsea got 94/95 points I think but couldn’t keep that intensity up so props to Liverpool and City for doing it over 2 seasons

2000 we wernt too far off. But I think thats the only time weve been 90+

theyve raised a high bar.

now up to us to close that or wait till they are no longer that good, its likely going to be the latter.

I think that was 00/01 Robb. The previous season we won our last 11 games after going out to Madrid in the CL.

I'd be very surprised if Liverpool did the same next season. As you said it's very hard to keep that up and I think they may be a bit more inconsistent next season (compared to this season that is!) as I can see them adding to their squad and using that squad more.

posted on 6/3/20

It’s very hard to say, but we haven’t done it so even if we were capable you’re talking about some of the greatest United teams of all time. It’s a tall order to get to that level.

Nah it was 99/00.

the 01 season we won it by 10 points and finished on 80.

Stretty, yeah it’s likely the latter. But if we are talking next season, there’s also City that will probably be pushing that mark again. I don’t think they’ll be as negligent in the transfer market as they were the summer gone, and that’ll have a big impact on their consistency next year.

I agree. will be peps final year with them. he wont want to go out with anything less than a league title.

they'll get good money for sane and reinvest in areas theyve lacked this season.

I was talking about phoning in the last three games rather than the 100 points thing.

The closest we've actually come to a 100 point season (when we've faltered at the end) is in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
