We’ve had plenty of injuries, but even if we’ve had less than other teams then it’s not down to luck. It’s down to the set up, the people and methods you bring in to manage the players. This narrative that it’s yet another part of our extraordinary good fortune is just lazy and stupid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That narrative is mainly offered by Liverpool fans and the occasional troll.
You’re debating something the majority of people haven’t even said.

That’s blatantly not true. It’s used virtually every time we win a game, by a large number of posters. Not sure how you can say otherwise. Even if you could argue that it’s mainly trolls, then it’s far from occasional. This site is mainly made up of posters whose sole interest is to wum. There’s very little actual football content on here these days, it’s all about the wumming and point scoring.

Don’t agree with that at all and I think a number of Liverpool fans take reasonable comments completely out of context.
TOOR did it with to kick off this debate a while back and I’ve seen the same thing done with Baz about the quality of the league.
Not saying you’re wrong but I just don’t see what you apparently do... have said this before but would be genuinely interested to see examples when they occur.

aguero has missed more games than Liverpools front 3 combined, let alone including Sane
Laporte has just come back, how many games has VVD missed
Ederson has missed 2 games less than Allison
I think the point here is city key men have missed a lot, whereas for Liverpool its squad players and the odd game here or there for key men
but again, that's a credit to the fitness team not a criticism
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody said City haven't had injuries. Again new criteria is being introduced. Aguero has missed four more games than Firmino over the course if the season but then they have a £30m striker to come in, Liverpool have Origi. Considering they are a billion pound squad, this is to be expected. Laporte missed over half a season but again, they spent about £200m on defenders in the past couple of seasons. Gomez has missed similar games to Laporte last season and yet we didn't have injuries.
But again, this is different criteria. People state Liverpool don't get injuries and yet the facts say otherwise. Nobody said other teams don't get injuries. With City having a billion pound squad they can afford to bring in other players when players are carrying a knock, whereas Liverpool have to play theirs, hence why Klopp keeps them out of the domestic cup games and City field very strong teams.
Once again, Liverpool have had injuries, so to state otherwise is incorrect, regardless of whether other teams have had injuries, more injuries, worse injuries etc etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you seem to be either not getting my point, confusing it with someone else's or being deliberately obtuse.
literally no-one has said Liverpool don't get injuries.
they have said you have benefitted as opposed to your clearest rival by not missing your key men in the same way they have.
it doesn't matter who the back up is, if VVD & Mane missed the same amount of games as Sane & Laporte then clearly it would've affected you.
not sure why this point is so hard to grasp
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I completely get your point and as I said before nobody said City haven't had injuries. For me City have struggled(relatively speaking) due to one injury and not replacing a massive player for them in Kompany. This has meant their best defensive midfielder has moved into centre back as Guardiola doesn't trust his other defenders. This has also had an effect on the protection of the defensive considering how good Fernandinho has been in that role.
I'm talking about the topic of Liverpool not getting injuries and thus being lucky. Nobody is disagreeing that City got an injury to one of their centre backs, that put him out for over half a season, likewise Sane(who was a rotation option like Ox who was also out for around half a season) or that Aguero missed seven games.
I'm not sure what you want me to agree with as a haven't disagreed with what you said. Of course we have benefitted with Laporte being out half a season, like City benefitted when Gomez was out half a season last season. That's football, players get injured and it has an effect on the team. The more you spend the less effect it should have.
Who actually said Liverpool don’t get injuries, TOOR?
Because I certainly didn’t, so showing me that they did is meaningless and suggests you’re lying about everyone else as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have never accused you of saying any of these things, regarding injuries, luck, VAR etc as you simply don't say them. In terms of whether the league is weaker or not, this is a fair argument, I disagree but I don't think it's a ridiculous thing to say.
However you need to understand that not everybody thinks the same as you do and therefore their comments are not the same. There have been numerous articles and comments over the past two seasons when Liverpool have been a top team regarding luck, be that injuries, referees, VAR, late goals, opposition players making mistakes etc.
Again, just because you weren't involved, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Two problems with that, TOOR:
1. You say I’ve not said it, so why are you posting stats about games missed to me?
As I showed, my initial post just raised the subject of significant periods out and how Liverpool would cope.
Your initial reply was either wrong or deceitful - you said Salah, Mane and Firmino had periods out, but as we’ve seen, they barely missed any games and so as a response to my comment about significant periods out, what was the relevance of not to deceive?
2. It’s all well and good for you to say how much this goes on but I’m not just going to take your word for it.
Firstly, because I see a lot of posts on here and think I’d have noticed.
Secondly, and more importantly, I’ve seen the same conversation about a weak league and when I asked for an example, what it showed is that the Man Utd fan said nothing of what he was being accused of.
In that instance, the Liverpool fan was exaggerating and in some cases down right lying about what had been said.
You might not like that and you might be convinced that you’ve seen it, but that is meaningless really and it’s not out of order for me to ask for it to be highlighted if and when it happens again.

I'm posting stats about injuries as you brought up last seasons injuries and what I had said. You changed the topic so I answered.
I don't mind if you take my word for it. Just because many people are saying it, doesn't make it true. If you don't want to believe those people and haven't seen it for yourself, that's fine. I've no problem with that.
It's up to you what you want to believe. It's your opinion after all.
TOOR, I brought up what was said last time when you left the thread without replying.
My original post was about significant periods of absence and you replied with a flawed post about injuries that meant the players missed one or two games.
You then had the audacity to accuse me of changing the criteria. It was my post you were replying to and for some reason, you can’t just admit that your original reply was flawed and/or misjudged, can you?
The only people saying it are Liverpool fans and I strongly believe it’s because you want to run with the narrative of bitter rival fans who won’t give Liverpool credit.
I’ll continue to challenge that and wait to see these mystery posts, if they ever appear.
You did change the criteria. You changed it to league games only, which I thought we already established last night?
Anyway before getting into this again, I'll agree to disagree. Enjoy your day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t change the criteria - there was no agreed criteria.
I used the number of league games they’d played to demonstrate that none of your key players had missed significant periods of the season.
What part of that are you struggling with?
If you’ve played in every single league game of a season then you haven’t missed a significant period of the season. Jesus TOOR, it’s so basic it hurts.
The only person potentially guilty of changing the criteria is you, by replying with stats that proved a point I’d never argued against.
You just can’t admit that your very first reply to my original comment was utter nonsense. Same as always TOOR, you’re never able to admit when you’re wrong.

I’m not replying because I want to bait him, I’m doing it because I’m genuinely bemused at why he can’t just admit to an error and move on with what could be an interesting discussion.

Got plenty, thanks.
Just a shame that TOOR can’t acknowledge when he’s wrong. A real character flaw, that.

Not at all.
I’d rather have a grown up conversation with him. The problem is as soon as he says something wrong, he refuses to admit it and so any debate gets sidetracked or just stops as he leaves the thread.
I’m not replying because I want to bait him, I’m doing it because I’m genuinely bemused at why he can’t just admit to an error and move on with what could be an interesting discussion.
He does it a lot.
