The Fairest Solution

One solution would be to null and void this season as a write off and then not allow any team to buy or sell any of their players, so they have to start a new season with the players they have right now

Except players whose contracts have run out and loan players...

I would rather the opening post ad used the Championship as an example. Our relegation is too close to call, any three out of a possible eight are candidates. The top end wiv the Premiers massive financial benefits also as it's problems. There would probably be a different eight clubs prepared to sue the E.F.L. If this season is not completed den the only answer is to void it and start the 2020-2021 season wiv the same teams. I know dis won't go down well wiv a lot of Leeds fans's. In dis sad money world we choose to live in it's money once again dat will decide the outcome.

If the season is cancelled just allow teams to start the next season with their current points totals.

It isn't a horrible idea to be fair

There has been a precedent in Chile:

Sounds like a solid idea for the FA/FL going forward.

The fairest would be to pick up the season again, at one point. Then promotion and relegation plays out as it should.

Next season, if no time to play all games; play each other once. All teams, of course, get the same amount of home and away games.

Can't see anything being more fair than doing this.

No because teams at the top would be disadvantaged. We only have eight games for teams to catch us not 46.

Same for those just above relegation.

Similar to the a German idea. No relegation and top teams in each league promoted. If third to six have to play off then fair enough.

I’m sure teams in the Prem could manage an extra six games next season and maybe an idea to donate any profit from those games to lower leagues.

This will become a legal minefield if the authorities don't get it right. Clarity and speed of decision are of the utmost importance.

First, infection rates will peak over the coming months: there will be no more football this season. That's disappointing but tough: people's health must come before football.

Second, Leeds/West Brom fans would justifiably feel extremely bitter if the season was voided at this point. Yes, the table is tight but we were on a roll and drawing universal credit for our football.

Terminate the season now, top three promoted and bottom three relegated, as it stands. The outcome cannot be resolved fairly so the potential unfairness can only be limited.

I believe the Bundesliga have already made a decision on something like this?

Ha, just noticed I started out talking about legal minefields and then suggested an unfair solution! Shows how this thing has blown my mind. Should reflect before posting!

German model seems fair apart from what do you do with playoff teams?

So my solution based on theirs:

No relegation from any league.
Top two promoted in each league.
Third to sixth have play offs if possible but if not just draw lots or flip a coin. I remember winning a cup like that years gone by. Fairs Cup? They are a bloody lottery anyway.

Prem has three extra teams = six extra games per club. I’m sure they will cope for one season. Then relegate six next season to balance it all out.

It’ll be a tough pill to swallow, but the only sensible solution that wouldn’t end up in court is for the whole season....nationwide to be cancelled and every single team given the same, blanket treatment - that is the only possible, legal solution

You just cannot make exceptions for 1 or 2 teams because of where they stand at present - it would just be ethical to dish out certain privileges or punishments to a couple of teams - the only way to deal with this will be a blanket, national cancellation for EVERY team - and write the whole of this season as null and void

Sorry, but that will be the only option

It would just NOT be ethical*

As someone just said the fairest solution is just play out the remaining games (wiv no fans) and get it over wiv. It doesn't really matter ow long dat takes.

I just had a brainwave that would sort the whole thing out!

Fifa 20 head-to-head matches online for all teams!

MB could have them all training on their PS4s at Thorpe Arch every day just in case...
