I don’t know-I’m not a medic and don’t know how they decide these things?!

My only point being that accuracy is pretty crucial just now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just don’t think accuracy is something we can get just now.

There’s the schools closing in Scotland and Wales. Mental.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s a bit ridiculous, is it not?! Surely they can state what a person died from the same as any other day of the week when they have to do it?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As ginger alluded to earlier, it's never that simple.

There are often multiple factors but (at least up until a few years ago ...it may have changed) doctors have to indicate a single cause of death.

It's why so many families are surprised when they see the death certificate.

I believe that pneumonia was traditionally the most common option on the basis that if you can't breathe you're deed.

Fvck sake. That’s my point-are they being accurate?!? You’re saying that in the current climate, we can’t be.

I understand that it can be more complicated, but there is, as you say, a way of recording deaths. What I’m getting at is are we now taking it that anyone that dies who also has the coronavirus is getting lumped in with these statistics?!

I always remember my Gran’s death certificate stating that she died of old age because she was 99 years old. It didn’t really matter, but it’s kinda important right now.

Interestingly I heard (from a direct source so not clickbait) that one of the major hospitals in the DC area has tested more than 1000 people (all apparently with symptoms) and not one came back positive.

Not sure what to read into that but just thought if was interesting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it a Chinese person that told you it though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was actually a friend of mine who is an ER doctor in two major DV hospitals and a director of a not for profit hospital there too so she's a good source.

She's also a tele-doctor in the US. Btw she gets paid $40-$50 a call on that. Average call lasts <5 mins.

She can do 100 calls or more on a 'weekend'. More at the moment if she cares to. Unbelievable money for a sideline.

Schools closed from Friday.

Nursery's as well i imagine?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What will we do at lunchtimes now mate?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

With the rumours about the army and police on the streets from Friday at 5pm then i'm heading to get a sheidt ton of booze right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it won’t happen this way but the spirit of optimism wouldn’t it be great if we have a ‘VC’ day when the pubs reopen. Everyone queuing to get in, dancing in the streets, drink laws relaxed, winching everything in sight...

Here. In plain simple English.

I don’t think they can be accurate.

I don’t think they can absolutely establish the exact cause of death in these cases.

It matters not a fwck what you want. It is what it is.

There. Now fwck off and use your nit picking on a bear or two.

There’s been 3 deaths attributed to the coronavirus in Scotland right now. I assume they’ve all been in hospital when this has happened, therefore they’ve been getting monitored. I doubt it’s taking up much more resources to get the reason why they died correct. Your analogy is a bit different from having literally milliseconds to make a decision to someone who’s been diagnosed and getting treated.

If you think I should care about you badgering something to death, pardon the pun, or whether doctors get a death certificate absolutely accurate when there are any numbers of reasons for that death then you are very sadly mistaken.
