At this time the plan is that the season will complete at some stage.
However if it doesn't what makes Sky and BT a special case that they shouldn't lose money when virtually everyone on the planet is being affected in some way?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who says they won't lose money?
Too early to start that kind of speculation. There is nothing to indicate that they won't lose money when others will. They are losing money as we speak, they could have lost billions already by now. Or does losing money only count when the season is cancelled and Liverpool don't have a title?
They are not getting any special treatment and I don't know why all of a sudden you are acting like you're sure they will.
Just wait to see how this develops, decisions will be made when more info is available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just listen to what the President of Uefa says.
No restart by June and season is expunged from record books
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You clearly can't read very well.
It won't be true no matter how many times you repeat it
I mean, what is this? Are you putting it out into the universe so that the universe can bring it to reality or what?

I didn't say they haven't or won't, I was just reacting to someones inferred hypothesis about them challenging for compensation if the league were to be cancelled and questioning why they thought they would have have a case for legal action if it were!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK but they'd definitely have a case.

It's not an "inferred hypothesis" as things stand Sky and BT are entitled to a rebate of around £750bn for failure to complete the season

Yes, of course they would bankrupt the Premier League and its Members before Bankrupting themselves, don't be so naive.
The upsude of ripping up the contracts is Football would be free to sign a new deal with another Broadcaster, Amazon/Disney/Apple have probably already put bids in. But they will want a Full Season too...
There's no good way out of this that includes hanging on in there in the hope that by some miracle the football world can hang on in there and resume this season at a later date.
Most recent advice from the Government's advisers
🚨 Dr Jenny Harries says it could up to six months or longer before Britain goes back to normal. Deputy CMO says:
- 3 weeks till review lockdown
- 2-3 months to review the curve
- 3-6 months of social distancing measures
“It is plausible it could go further than that."
Forget it, cancel the season, focus on caring for ourselves and eachother, and start afresh in the Autumn.

There may be another way and that would be to just try and align the European season around dates for Qatar 2022 for two seasons. Nobody is going to be playing anywhere in the major nations for months so why not just give it the whole of this year to play out and start a new season in February maybe, running til November, which would give players the usual length of time between a traditional season ending and a major International tournament ending. If they were going to squeeze the world cup into the middle of the season then surely they can do the same for the 2021 Euros as well. Everything gets completed, the next season is a full one and every one goes away happy.
It would require financial support from the top to the bottom of the league system, but it's in everyone's best interest to preserve the future of our game so why not? Let's put greed to one side and do what's right.

How do you know we'll be ready by autumn.
Why not leave it as it is and make the decision when we know what time football can be played again.
The season might be cancelled but why do it now? It would be utterly stupid.
The priority is to defeat Covid, not start planning for next season FFS. After Covid is defeated let's sit down and see what to do. If the season is cancelled at all it will be after we've defeated Covid.
No need to rush and create more problems as I'm sure some clubs will sue the league if it's cancelled. Canceling now would only serve to deny Liverpool a title and would serve no actual benefit to anyone. Attractive preposition for rival fans.

If we reach February then next season will not be happening IMO, unless it's condensed with less fixtures which would allow for yhis season to be finished. Have to wait and see.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The rush to make a decision is a financial one, like every business in the UK right now Football Clubs face an existential threat, they will have had very few home games and most seats were paid for a year ago.
With no income, uncertain future TV income, unable to sell Season Tickets for next year, how long do you think they are going to last? Days or weeks?
The sooner this season is cancelled, Clubs can mothballed, make arrangements to furlough staff and the 80% contributions from the Government.
They can sell Season Tickets as soon as the travel & social distancing are lifted, and the season can start 6-8 weeks later.
They can sign players without having to fund them through the summer.
They can put temporary financial measures in place to ensure there is still a Club.
As for Liverpool, Leeds, Barrow...my lot...it is just bad luck. We dust ourselves down and move on.
What I'm suggesting, broken down, is this...
Probably going to be no football til after July, think we're all pretty much accepting of that.. So....
Season restarts in September 2020 and plays til conclusion in late November 2020 (with a similar schedule to how this season would have finished without the pandemic).
December 2020 - January 2021: Pre-season
February 2021 - November 2021: Full season inc. Euros
December 2021 - January 2022: Pre-season
February 2022 - November 2022: Full Season
December 2022: World Cup
Then it would be down to the governing bodies if they wanted to start to stagger it back until it got back to the traditional season months, or kept things as they were.
Not saying it's the best idea, but it would certainly ensure all sides of the argument got treated fairly.

You post like a man under attack. I only added my thoughts. I didn't even know it was you (the same guy as the other thread).
The last thing Football will need when it returns is a packed schedule, the first thing that goes wrong will set off a domino effect.
Space, time needs building into proposed future schedules.

In fact they aren’t waiting much longer to void the season

No football this year
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can make things up as often as you like, it doesn't change things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not an "inferred hypothesis" as things stand Sky and BT are entitled to a rebate of around £750bn for failure to complete the season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And they invoke that and claim such a rebate and what happens? They pretty much financially bankrupt the Premier Leaague and it's members. Not gonna happen is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, of course they would bankrupt the Premier League and its Members before Bankrupting themselves, don't be so naive.

You again
Seriously mate, do you actually even read my stuff or just go off on one when you see my name?I only ask as none of the points you've made correspond to what I actually wrote....I included the Euros, and the suggestion I made is based on completing this one without the need to make next season shorter? Maybe you just read it wrong, but I would have thought it's a suggestion that would benefit everyone in the top 5 leagues, it just needs a bit more help from the bigger leagues to ensure the safety of the semi pro leagues in the interim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You post like a man under attack. I only added my thoughts. I didn't even know it was you (the same guy as the other thread).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the smiley would give away that I actually found it amusing and non-threatening. Never mind.
That aside, what do you think of the idea?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have the Euros, ACON and maybe the Olympics and other tournaments too.
If we reach February then next season will not be happening IMO, unless it's condensed with less fixtures which would allow for yhis season to be finished. Have to wait and see.

No football this year
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can make things up as often as you like, it doesn't change things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not an "inferred hypothesis" as things stand Sky and BT are entitled to a rebate of around £750bn for failure to complete the season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And they invoke that and claim such a rebate and what happens? They pretty much financially bankrupt the Premier Leaague and it's members. Not gonna happen is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, of course they would bankrupt the Premier League and its Members before Bankrupting themselves, don't be so naive.

Seriously mate, do you actually even read my stuff or just go off on one when you see my name? I only ask as none of the points you've made correspond to what I actually wrote....I included the Euros, and the suggestion I made is based on completing this one without the need to make next season shorter? Maybe you just read it wrong, but I would have thought it's a suggestion that would benefit everyone in the top 5 leagues, it just needs a bit more help from the bigger leagues to ensure the safety of the semi pro leagues in the interim.

The last thing Football will need when it returns is a packed schedule, the first thing that goes wrong will set off a domino effect.
Space, time needs building into proposed future schedules.
