Straight away that would make a mockery of those leagues, and completely ruin the integrity of the competition.

Why would that a make a mockery?

Teams change Midseason all the time. Its called yhe January transfer window.

Considering Covid is a aspevial circumstance, then there's nothing wrong with adding a third transfer window to the season to allow clubs to cope.

The problem with these conversations is that some people are being unreasonable. They want rules bent and seasons canceled one minute but they want rules followed strictly and not bent the next minute.

AMake up your mind. If Covid is enought to get a season scrapped then none of these issues you raise are even significant. We'll work around then when we get to it.

Have you looked at what will happen if the season isn't completed? Bolton better sort it out because the stakes are too high and their contract situation won't stop us from saving football as we know it.

A guy on the radio here yesterday was talking about US sports getting games on and he just off the cuff said that the UK was close to an agreement to get games going in the premier league.

You never know. Personally I don't think its close because they have to wait to see what the situation is in a few weeks time. So its a few weeks away IMO but the proposal is there. At the end of the day human life trumps everything else and that consideration will take first priority.

You can add a third transfer window but by the time it's ready to open chances are many clubs won't have a penny left to spend on anyone. I'd have thought with their well documented problems, Bolton would very much be one of those clubs.

Not sure how that classifies as "saving football as we know it".

If the season isn't completed, or some sort of bailout agreed, half the clubs in all the top leagues won't have a penny to spend.

The final tranche of TV money is payable in May. TV companies won't pay it as they are taking losses like nobody's business at the moment. Half the clubs will be immediately in trouble if that money isn't paid saan.

I accept your point but its a joke problem compared to what will happen if we don't finish the season. We should risk the future of half the clubs because Bolton have a situation?

Don't be silly.

It won't just be Bolton though, they're just the most extreme example. Bear in mind too that with relegation almost confirmed for them, they'd probably be quite happy to throw a spanner in the works if they thought they could work this in their favour...as I imagine a few relegation threatened clubs might have given have the possibility of an 'out' more than a quick thought.

For me, there's no reason whatsoever the PL can finish their season, I just think the lower down you go, it's not as easy. Clubs are going to want to start trying to flog season tickets, kits, etc, pretty much asap to recoup their losses from not playing. There's absolutely no profit at stake for many clubs outside the Prem...those challenging to get there, yeah, everyone else will be making big losses now, and they weren't exactly profitable before this.

Regardless of what way this season is going to go, I think it's getting very urgent now that those in charge make a decision and outline how it's going to be done, and then just shut the f up and get it organised. Right now football is looking a bit ridiculous in its own sense of self-importance. With all manner of sporting leagues getting voided all over the place, public sympathy for the beautiful game is going to decline rapidly as the death toll grows and people's personal financial circumstances become more and more compromised.

There's a lot wrong with that IMO bit also some truths. At the end of the day your opinion will be limited to the info you have. Lots of sports around the world are looking at options, its not just football. Your perception that football is looking ridiculous is because you don't have this info and don't know what others are doing.

You fail to understand that multiple clubs could become insolvent abdbyhe cost of this is so great that we have to try to find solutions, all sports are struggling to find ways to save some of their members.

Nothing ridiculous or wrong with that so long as safety is the foremost consideration.

If Bolton is the most extreme example then that means the others won't be as bad and the overall cost of an incomplete season is much greater than that damage. Furthermore, some rules can be amended or bent to allow Bolton to function etc.

Its about doing what's best for all parties where possible.

I think its possible many leagues will finish their seasons behind closed doors. If we are on lockdown still May/June then football could reopen by then.
