The player should simply remain at the club to finish out the last few games left of the season.
Why is forcing people into a contract a circumstance that should change? Why isn't the circumstance that should change be a transfer window to allow players to move.
And, considering you are all about the owners, what abnout clubs who are counting down the days until players contracts run out so they can get them off the wage bill? Forcing them to keep these players may kill off some clubs.

Why would any player risk the possibility of long-term injury for a hypothetical short term 10-game pay-as-you-play contract running upto the hypothetical end of the season?
A short term contract that most likely wouldn't come with any guarantee of renewal after the last ball of the season was kicked.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, the players shouldn't take a pay cut because why should they.
The players even tho sitting at home, not training, not fufilling their current contracts should still be paid in full, because why shouldn't they.
The players cant fufill their contracts, because why tough titty its bot their fault, But yet the club should fufil theirs, even if they can't and it isn't their fault either.
Players contracts expirng in June, should be free to leave, even tho the world health pandemic was out of the clubs control and no one could predict this. But players shouldn't have to compromise in the current crisis. But the club cant be extending their current contracts for an extra 2 months. Because tough titty its not the players fault..
Mate, go play with the buses
Players should be forced to lose 30% of their wages and be forced to stay at a club where they don't have a contract anymore. And still play the same number of games, missing out on their summer break.

These are modern football clubs. Not a rural Cambodian rubber plantation running on day labourers.
Arsenal still kept paying Cazorla for the entire year or so he was out injured. We might as well fold the club if we start renegotiating pre-existing contracts based on player productivity.
Why would players take a pay cut that will only increase the clubs budget meaning the club could then have more money in their transfer kitty to replace a player that has taken a pay cut?
The whole idea is illogical

But everyone else working in the real world, public sectors, retail & hospitality should lose a percentage or sum of thier usual wage because the owners are affected.
Football clubs are affected to so why shouldn't players see their wages affected, like everyone else.

And players shouldn't be forced by public opinion to give up their wages. That is something that should be between their employer and them.

No it’s not. These players are paid far too much and indirectly via fans anyway. They should give something back to the fans, and communities and this is a good way.
Can’t say I’ve been looking at the news today, has it been reported that they are being greedy baaastards?

Refusing to take any sort of pay cut.and if so, they want it all back paid when things resume to normal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They should be taxed an extra 20% for that. And not given anything back. They aren’t playing so shouldn’t be paid the full whack.
