My favourite ever leeds player.
Will be remembered for being a tough defender but by god he was a hell of a skilful player and read the game like no other

True legend

He was litrally the voice of Leeds.

I grew up listening to the games on radio and it was always his voice, his insight, his humour that made it.

He was a legend in every sense of the word as he defined this club with first his playing and then his commentary.

He deserves a statue at the ground too

Absolutely awful news, an absolute legend, remember watching him play for us when I was a kid. RIP Norman, another victim of this horrible virus.

I wonder if there were underlying health issues?

Still very sad to see another iconic player of the past pass on

I was at the game where he and Franny Lee knocked 7bells out of each other. Proper football in those days

RIP Norman and thanks for the memories

Very sad news a true legend,
He was speaking at a dinner four weeks ago and told the story of the Frannie Lee incident, Lee had dived for a penalty and at HT Jimmy Armfield said Norman don’t go looking for revenge, as they were going out Billy said you ain’t going to let him get away with that are you he’s made a right mug out of you and whipped him into a frenzy, great days, RIP Norman

A great shame.

When my dad gave up the season tickets I listened weekly to him and Bryn as a kid on Radio Leeds. I love his passionate way. He would randonly just lose his rag.

He came across as very normal.

After a really, really crappy week, this has got to me.

We get promoted, for him. We should have been celebrating promotion right now with him.

For Norman <3

All the 'hardman' cliches come out now but there was much more to Norman Hunter as a player, yes his tackling was a big talking point, controversial at times it has to be told.
What impressed me was his long curved pass from deep in his own half, a joy to watch when he was on his game...he could dribble very well out of a tight corner in defence...his heading game was top notch in defence...the most impressive part of his game for me was the sheer consistency of performance, game after game, week after week, season after season...if for some reason he played not to his usual high standard the crowd concluded he must be feeling not very well, it was so unusual...in my opinion one of the greatest defenders the game has seen, a pleasure as a Leeds fan/supporter to watch him was all mine!

RIP Norman Hunter

RIP gaffer. I used to work on VIP turnstile as a young un at Barnsley first time Clarkey was manager. When Ray my mates dad left to go with Allan to Leeds i thought that was us done. But he kept us on. He was a lovely bloke always smiling. He also gave us our best ever team and in my eyes greatest night. Drawing away at European champions Liverpool on that foggy night.
He will be sadly missed.

Gutted, only 76. Should've been celebrating promotion with the club now.
