I just don’t know what to say. Terribly saddened by this.
Really sad news.
RIP Norman
RIP Norman, a great player, and a gentleman.
If he and Billy were playing today some of the modern forwards wouldn't come out for the second half, mind you with todays rules Billy and Norman wouldn't be on either.
One of the best defenders I have ever seen.
You will never be forgotten.
Really sad news. A proper English footballing legend with a nickname that, whilst very, very, apt, didn't explain enough about how good a footballer he actually was. And like many players of that era, he might have been battle-hardened, but he was honest and a total gentleman to boot.
Rest in peace "bite yer legs"
My next door neighbour as a kid in Horsforth. Fond, hazy memories as a star struck kid of kickabouts in the back garden. As others have said, much more to him than his hardman tag as a player. Very sad day. RIP Norman, thoughts with the family.
I had the great pleasure to meet Norman and he was just wonderful. I am weeping in his memory. RIP Norman Hunter.
Tragic that he and The Cat, both legends of the 70 FA Cup Final, should be lost in one week!
RIP Bite yer legs!
Devastated at this news. I was in my car and it came on the news.
Such a great man. I met him at ER a couple of times and he always had time for everyone he came into contact with.
Hopefully he’s up there having a round of golf with my dad.
RIP Norman. Never forgotten
r.i.p big man, will be missed more than you know sad sad day
best wishes to your family
RIP to the big fella. Great servant to Leeds and never shirked a tackle. Yet another sad loss to go with all the others we've had recently.
RIP Norman, great man, great player. You will be hugely missed.
Just found out, really hit me hard. I grew up on the likes of Hunter et al. Legend doesn't cover it.
RIP Sir.
I can name that 70s Lids team man for man from my childhood.
RIP Norman you dirty barsteward.
(PS Wish you had really chinned Franny Lee)
Too young to have had the pleasure of seeing him play, but a real hero to my old man. It was stories about the likes of Hunter that made me fall in love with this club. Had the pleasure of meeting him a few years back and was quickly made aware of his legendary status just by how the entire room was in awe of him.
Thoughts are with his family, RIP, MOT x
Absolutely stunned by this news - I'd convinced myself that he was going to recover. Tragic that this should happen and even more so right now on the brink of promotion - bite your legs deserved to see us go up.
