The only way I see him having a future is if Corluka gets unhappy at being second choice and looks for a move... In which case Naughton could be Kyle Walker's back up

Watching the game pretty much to have a look at Naughton. He's decent, seems a bit more 'savvy' defensively than Walker, but doesn't quite have that spark that Walker has.
Good enough for the PL, but not perhaps for a team that aspires to be fighting at the top end.
Fair comment Chronic
ArryRaptor - I think he can play on the left. I saw him in his debut for Spurs in a pre-seasn game at Aldershot and he played on the left that evening. Not sure, but I think he may have played there for Leicester on a few occasions last season
and what odds on Norwich giving away a late penalty....
They're doing their best to throw it away with that shocking back pass a minute ago.
I haven't seen too much of him playing for anyone but just because he's out on loan doesn't necessarily mean he's out of Harry's plans. Many others have gone through that process, looked like they were out of the picture and are now starting to feature in the first XI.
I agree though that even losing Hutton we are still OK for RBs so much depends on a) how happy Charlie is sitting on the bench in big games and b) what Naughton makes of this Prem loan spell.
Yeah they were a bit lucky that Sunderland didn't punish them - another chance from that long free kick too.
Still, fair play to Norwich - I don't actually understand how Sunderland are so rubbish at the moment. Weren't they tipped as potential 'dark horses' to challenge for a European spot???
But yeah, nice to Naughton have a decent game. If Norwich stay up I can see a potential permanent move.
Evening Spurcat
He reminds me a bit of Phil Neville in both the positions he can play for and how he goes about his job to a good, if unspectacular way. I think he's Premiership quality and can only improve. I'd like to think he'll be given a chance next season but it all depends on how Corluka responds to getting made 2nd choice for a second consecutive season.
Apologies, didn't see Chronic already made the point about Corluka.
Thanks for the feedback guys. It does seem from the comments so far that you do see a possible future for Naughton at WHL. That's fine, because he's clearly a decent enough player, but for me, he's like Jake Livermore, in that he is more than capable of coming in and doing a good job, but week in and week out, I feel they both fall short of what need at the level we are now at.
I thought he had a fairly comfortable game. Never really looked flustered in a pretty decent Norwich showing, (didn't they look a bit "Spurs" in that last 10 minutes).
Good thing is he looks prem quality and you never know, he may progress.

You're dead right there mate.
Spurcat - Livermore and Naughton are still young enough to blossom though. Do you think?
What are the odds on Bruce getting the sack next?
i have never rated bruce as a manager. doesnt convince me that he has any idea what he is doing
ddd- yes of course they are, I just feel it won't be at Spurs. As for Bruce, a great player, nice guy, but an average manager. He's lucky he's got a real football man in Quinn as his chairman, otherwise I doubt he would have survived the summer.
Evening Spurcat,
The guy can play anywhere across the backline and as a central midfielder, which is fantastic flexability.
In my view he is better at left back, where he is more tactically aware of what is going on.
When he is at right back he has a tendency to drift into the center leaving opposition wingbacks and old fashioned hugging the touchline wingers having an absoloute field day.
Quality squad player to have and i cannot say how highly i rate him. Not as a first teamer but as backup/squad player.
Spurcat, I'd never begrudge a player of a squad place if they're up to the quality of the league and work hard. Especially if they're young and English. GDS and co have written themselves off and are far less deserving of opportunites than Livermore and Naughton.
i think naughton is good but i would rather we produced our own player to challenge for a right back spot
You're dead right there mate.

I thought that he looked a bit of a drifter..... (Cue the Saturday night at the movies gags...)
Look like modric and Y Vicious -
Thanks for you input guys, as usual from you, intelligent comments. I have no issue with Naughton whatsoever as I think he's a useful player who shows good potential, but I don't think he's quite up to our level. But as you say, as a utility player, then well worth keeping.
I'll disappear with my tail between my legs on this one !!!
Solid PL defender so far, as for a top4/top6 (however you see it these days) fullback, not so sure. The word from Blade fans at the time we signed them, was that Walker would turn out the better player of the two.
Ive never seen Naughton play, but my flat mate is adamant that he is the better of the two Kyles.
Im guessing he is way off the mark?
From what I remember we signed the Kyles in a joint deal, no doubt gambling that at least one would fulfil his potential. I don't think anyone saw Walker in the first team this season but his spell at Villa obviously worked wonders.
I'm slightly disappointed only Norwich wanted to take him on.. maybe that's an indication of his quality? Either way I think we should wait and see how he looks once he's got a few more games under his belt before writing him off.
