It's not a fvck the rest at all. It's simply ten games in a league that worth billions.

Just to put it into perspective football was suspended under five weeks ago. August is 13 weeks away.

They've opened up B&Q today and it's April.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The government have already said their plan regarding traffic light system. Within 3 weeks dentists, hairdressers and other shops will be open. The only things that seem months away are pubs etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Might go get a Pret today.

This is a common sense decision, there is no fair and safe way to conclude the season, so the correct course of action has been taken.

Somebody mentioned postponing until next year, I have never heard such nonsense, you can not change the rules of any competition half way through and retain any integrity, it would be wholly unfair for a whole multitude of reasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't seen anyone arguing it's fair, but its the fairest option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it is not, far more clubs stand to be unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged if the league was to ever resume and final positions decided in the face of the countless variables and inconsistencies.

Voiding the season would only be unfair on a handful of clubs that were likely winners and had something to lose, there is way less detriment all round by voiding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. As a United fan I want the season to be finished, as I think we've got a great chance of qualifying for the CL. But I can't see it happening. And if it doesn't I dont see how you can decide the finishing places. This isn't the SPL. Teams that get relegated are losing out on fortunes. And there will certainly be legal challenges.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Give the bloody premiership to Liverpool and move on!
enough with these silly arguments
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets be honest, that's the fairest conclusions. Its not Liverpool's fault that the fairest conclusion goes together with Liverpool's interest, that's just luck and coincidence.

This decisions would have been far easier for many people if it was any other club but Liverpool in pole to get a title.

If you think about it, is actually insane that some people don't want Liverpool to be Champions. So many ree tarded theories and ideas on here to stop Liverpool over the last month or two. I should have been writing them down for future comic value.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do Liverpool always get mentioned, as if they are somehow a special case. If a decision is made to just void the season, then Liverpool will just have to abide by that decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In fairness the Liverpool fans I know socially are very against null and void (as you would expect) but prepared to admit that its a distinct possibility.

I think some on here have got so entrenched in the "it will definitely restart" mind set that they can't see the wood for the trees. Although I've noticed that Prankster isn't as adamant as he was that it will be salvaged.

Its like UEFA saying they want to play the cl and Europa finals in August. People get excited about that prospect yet it means nothing. I would like to take Jesy Nelson out for a drink in August but it doesn't mean its going to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It means more than those that are "entrenched" on here saying that the league will definitely be cancelled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Given that most things are now starting to stack up that the leagues will be cancelled. The Chief Medical Officer let the cat out of the bag yesterday, by saying social distances will in all probability be in place for the whole calendar year, which means absolutely no way can any football take place. Football like everything else will be governed by scientific and medical evidence as to when it is safe to restart. Probably pretty well given now that there will be no more football until 2021 at the earliest.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He said that we have to protect the most vulnerable, which means social distancing for them. Unless you think we'll be locked down for a year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As a 70 plus person, yes I do expect to be in some kind of lockdown for a year. That`s the only probable outcome that will keep me from catching it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that may happen unfortunately. Let's not pretend that means no football though. Some form of social distancing can just as easily mean no gatherings of more than 50 plus people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well to play any top level football match, it takes a lot more than 50 people to be involved, and then how do you stop players from making contact with each other? Just aint going to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

50 people dont need to be in the same space sandy. The closest they have get is 20 odd within the confines of a changing room.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So there is going to be no contact on the pitch then?

I wouldn`t believe a thing the Government said. Thus far, they have been wrong on pretty much everything concerning Coronavirus. They said there was going to be 100,000 test by the end of the month, thus far, they are at a little over 20,000.

They are just pushing out stuff to try to keep the public on side. It means very little in reality.

Saw this posted on SC.

The league shouldn’t be thinking “how can we finish this season.” They should be thinking “how can we make next season more flexible to lessen the impact when the season is inevitably disrupted again.”

This is on the money.

Why not what? Current policy is two metres apart. Not possible in a game of football.

Some folk seem to think that we will all be skipping through the daisys holding hands in 3 weeks.

Quite remarkable how anybody could think that we are anywhere near the end of this.

But football isn't being played now. It is being played in a few months, during which time a lot of things can change. You seem to think we will be in the same position months from now.

Some people are just oblivious to the facts, blinded by their club loyalties.

The facts are this season can not now be completed 100% safely, 100% fairly and within accordance of the rules set out.

There is no way of completing the season fairly, as such, the football season is largely meaningless, in these circumstances common sense should be used and the safest option taken for public health and safety.

Nobody should want their name associated with this football season.

It is all very simple.

If this is the final option then yes, it's best to call the season as it stands.

However, football must be played behind closed doors at some point or else clubs like Spurs will fold.

They will have full protective gear on, including gowns, masks and gloves. Footballers will not.

Nobody thinks that. But within a week there will be 100k tests available per day. That is around a quarter of a million a week.Things are moving forward all the time and as soon as tests are more widely available, we move on to the next phase. Whilst I understand what you're saying, you're completely the other way. Things will change. Things won't be the same for a very long time, but we'll learn to live with this in the background and that will include football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There will be nowhere near 100k tests a week. In April, the tests have barely moved from 16,000 a month at the start, to like 21,000 now.

Testing capabilities are reported to be 100,000 per day from end of next week. Other countries developed this ability weeks ago and that's one of the ways the government has let the country down IMO.

Completely unfair on the clubs that have worked so hard all season. So the likes of Leeds/Westbrom, you just ignore their incoming promotion and void it ? Liverpool who are about to win the league, you just stop it ? Sorry, but completely unjust and unfair. If this is the case, then you refund the money to every season ticket holder in the premier league. If the football is null and void, then it means this season didn’t exist. If that’s the case, you make a case for a refund to all season ticket holders as officially the season didn’t happen and is meaningless. Why should people pay for a season that’s void? Bulls**, if Spurs were winning the league, I’d be fuming.
