The Dutch league?😂
Think their TV revenue is about 75 mill.
Premier league is around 1.7 billion.
Yeah, well worthy of comparison. 😂

Pointless bragging about size of TV deals when you can't put games on for people to watch. I think both Dutch and English clubs are earning the same right now from TV money.

So Belgium did the opposite and awarded the title to the top side etc

Surely the Dutch cannot have teams in Europe next season if there is European football

This is the most ridiculous thing that’s ever been debated - finish this season when you can and that’s the end of the matter - it’s doesn’t matter whether that’s May, August or January 2021 but the whole integrity of the game has gone forever instead of it remaining and things being a little behind
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole integrity of the game has gone for ever? A little OTT I think. It maybe the wrong decision,, but if all leagues do it, it doesn't destroy any integrity. Its just recognising extraordinary circumstances and accepting health comes first. My quibble would be it's too soon to make that decision, it could be there is a chance to finish the the current league, which is the best thing if possible.

that is what the 'game' has come to
the Dutch league is as important as any other league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What, money and finance? 🤔
Err, where the feck have you been living for the past 20 years? 😂

tbf Brugges had already mathematically won the title in Belgium. So was correct 2 award them it.
In leagues were it is not mathematically decided yet, they really cannot award it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think they had though, if you go by the rules that they usually follow

Yeah, they have their odd playoff system where the top 6 go into a mini leaguie and paly each other twice. I think they go into the playoff league with half of the points they gained from the regular season, so there was still a chance they could lose out on the title.

Oh; didn’t realise that was the end of the matter. Fair enough then.

Certainly feel that if one voids, they all should and vice versa. Not really fair say PSG are crowned Champions and Bayern Munich get Null and voided. I hope they cancel next season or the Euros to fit the remainder of this season in

posted on 24/4/20

Yeah but Germany have said they’re ready to resume the season as soon as they can.

So it’s really pointless looking at what other leagues are doing right now, each league is doing different things. The Dutch have voided, Belgium have ended the season but announced a winner and Germany are going to complete it.

All it takes is one footballer to pick up Coronavirus and the season will end again imo

UEFA guidelines direct that all outcomes "having regard to the specific circumstances of each competition".

Every league to carry it's own cross depending on it's situation. In Belgium they awarded the league to a team that was close to winning it mathematically. Dutch league shut down by government but was tied at the top so that's their circumstance.

If the same were to happen in England I would hope they take note of the very specific circumstances that we are 25 points clear. No need to lie about that.

Can somebody at the PL please, give Liverpool a trophy for feck's sake, so we can end this pointless speculation about how to finish this season properly (we can't), without unnecessary endangering or even killing anybody.

Then, when it is safe to start mass spectator sport again, we can all (hopefully) come back and start a new football season, whenever that will be.

Agreed but that wouldn't solve the financial aspect of this situation with nearly all clubs within the football pyramid facing uncertainty, some far more than others.

Even if its next year? How do clubs survive until its safe?
Point is it's not that simple. Planning is required.

the dutch had no option but to end the league, their government has banned all sporting fixtures until September.

that still hasn't avoided controversy as fc Utrecht are already making legal challenges to the methods/criteria and procedures used to appoint European cup placements next season, citing breaches of regulations, unfairness and u-turns on policies and decisions, and lack of application of sporting merits.

so, no, it's very unlikely that any of the big leagues are going to be using the Eredivisie as an example to follow.

Many won't. And football without spectators is a non-starter (for me anyway). Football is very much a spectator sport and not a TV programme. I certainly wont watch it, even if it is televised. One thing that this pandemic has showed me is that there a lot more to life than football.

All aspects in life will never be the same again, post Covid19.

That's OK if you don't watch it. Millions of others across the world will. I can't believe people are indifferent to three quarters of clubs going bust. If you dig deeper usually you find the real reason.

i don't think any football fan is...

but it it is a consequence of the pandemic then there isn't a lot we can do about it as individuals. Keeping alive is more of a issue for mr andf my family

Keep digging!
