For what its worth, I think voiding the season is the option I'd least like to see.
Obviously the gold standard/scenario (unless you REALLY want to see remaining games played in front of a full stadium) would be to finish this season when it is safe to do so perhaps over summer, meaning that the 20/21 season could start relatively near to when it was planned to.
Unfortunately I don't think football even with empty stadiums will come back anytime soon (as in months). If that's the case, and we voided the season/finished as it is..we could still see the 20/21 season only coming back in late 2020 anyway.
What about the EURO's next summer?
It's a ling season as it is without cramming it into z shorter time frame.
I also think those suggesting we play the season out in June did so on the assumption the league would be starting late.
Not sure why a Chelsea fan cares anyway, as it stands you qualify for the CL.
It's impossible to predict what will happen in the future, but if the next season can start on time or at worst, a month or two late providing this season is abandoned and whatever decisions are made regarding the outcome of this season are made, then I don't see why anyone wouldn't want that.
Surely having things following the proper schedule is best for everyone for countless reasons (Transfer Windows, Off-season lining up with summertime, international tournaments able to be played at a regular time rather than just whenever they happen etc.)
Theres no need.
Null and void this season and that gives next season the maximum opportunity to start on time.
20/21 is now a Euro season so we shouldn't mess about with getting it up and running
Its tempting to cancel the Euros next season so that season 20/21 can start later so we can finish 19/20
If next season can start on time, then that time can be used to finish this season and next season would just be delayed by a couple of months or so at most.
I wouldn't want the season ended as it is or voided just because it guarantuees my club CL qualification and not consider anything else, just me.
If this was to occur, (starting 20/21 season on a new calendar months later than planned) the Euros would have to occur in the middle of it, as is the plan for WC 2022 (on a normal schedule).
Keep hearing vaccine could be a year and something like only 10% of UK have had Covid-19 so far. This will drag on throughout 2020. More people will get ill and more people will die.
The 20/21 season is a distant thought away as is completing the current season.
I also think those suggesting we play the season out in June did so on the assumption the league would be starting late.
-----------------------------
Do you think a lot of people would change their view on playing the season out if it was too late? (meaning the 20/21 season starts months later than planned or is cancelled).

I don’t think there’s much chance of that happening. UEFA and the leagues will make sure the season is finished before the Euros, however they go about doing it.
If scheduling starts to get really difficult I think international breaks and domestic cups will be sacked off for the season.
The reality is, in times of a pandemic, there is no justification in shipping teams and their fans around Europe.
Cancel the season and only play domestic games next season. It will be financially brutal, but what choice do we have?
Null and void this season and that gives next season the maximum opportunity to start on time.
----------------------
For me, null and void should be the last resort/option. I guess I would prefer seeing this season finished and having 20/21 start late than having null and void.

How on earth will next season be able to start 2 months late? You do realise that City and Utd have potentially 19/18 games left. Plus the players will want a gap between the 2 or some will go to the Euros having played over 70 games without a break.
Take your Liverpool tinted specs off and get real.

No winter break. League Cup scrapped for the season if necessary. This season's European competitions will likely be shortened. There was talk of a two week break between seasons. It can work.

First take your Spurs rose tinted specs off. Your disaster season will not be wiped off the history books
Actually this could be the trigger for the League Cup being scrapped altogether maybe. France are doing the same, although they had already planned it.
Shame, I like the league cup.

I think the Dutch example will be followed over here with no Champs or relegation. Thats a perfectly reasonable thing to expect and is looking more likely with every passing day.
There will be winners and losers but theres no pleasing everybody.
Not sure how it's looking more likely with every passing day.

Is it?
Finishing out a season when players haven't played together in 3 months?
People need to consider the fact it isn't simple as just starting again.
OP
Why not just cancel this season. Easiest solution.

The league cup is filled up up with reserve teams, so why scrap it, and it hardly takes any playing time for most teams. European football will be scrapped.
You think European football will be scrapped over the league cup?
