KP saved all his runs for the test matches. Like he did against India. He scored 533 in 6 innings at an average of 106.. so lets all laugh at him.
Probably be those 13 + Borthwick, Buttler and Stokes/Woakes. (It is a 16 man squad is'nt it?)

yeah neon we can thank the SA system for the few overs of part-time offspin he bowls , everything else came later
back on topic
agree with hoggy about buttler & borthwick
i still think they should have waited with stokes til he was fit to bowl as well but they seem to have decided he is part of the future direction of the team
not sure whether bopara's emergence as a potential all-rounder might affect the chances of woakes getting a spot
rich
on the Stokes/Woakes thing, I reckon it'll come down to whether the selectors would prefer extra batting or bowling cover.
Personally I think the squad has enough batting, so would go for Woakes myself.
Don't know if the selector'll agree.
personally i would take both and leave out bell but thats another argument i suppose
Woakes has become a very good batsman, probably better than Bresnan and equal to Stokes.
Borthwick will surely go as third spinner and Bairstow and Buttler as well.
I think Bell will go but more as cover for the top four.
morgan's absence probbaly gives bell a reprieve as they will want another experienced batsman i suppose
might be his last last chance tho
In Sunday's R20 most batsmen including Bopara and Patel were all at sea against the slow bowling with some turn.
Bell is regarded (rightly or wrongly) as our best player of the turning ball. The last time we played India in the WC he scored 69 in a long stand with Strauss.
not going to get into a discussion about bell again , you know my views on him as an ODI player
i do agree our batting against spin is a worry however , i have been saying that for awhile now and its one of the reservations i still have about trott as well tbh
KP plays spin better than Bell.
I would go with
Cook
Kies
Bell(lets give him a go at 3,if he fails then thats the end of his ODI Career,if he does well it can only be a good thing going forward)
KP
Ravi
Bairstow
Bresnan
Borthwick
Swann
Rotate Finn,Dernbach and Jimmy such that each of them gets 4 games.
Reserves
Stokes/Buttler
Trott
Briggs
Woakes
I honestly think Patel is very very predictable and will get whacked by good players of spin.
A couple of good matches on a dustbowl against the worst players of spin in the world arent enough to convince me.
Borthwick,on the other hand, even though he bowled against the same opposition impressed me a lot the other day with his variations. He has got a very good 'wrong-un' ie the googly. He also has got very good changes in pace.He gets drift.
Patel hasnt done anything of note with the bat at international level.Bresnan has a better intl record.Bres at 7,Borthwick at 8 and Swanny at 9 is enough batting IMO on flat pitches and also given the quality or the lack of it in the Indian bowling attack.

very Good decision. How could I forget Meaker from my squad?
Meaker is a better one day bowler than Woakes.
And delighted to see my favourite player KP in the squad.
I would also leave Patel out.
Swann, Borthwick and Briggs is excuting, full of variation and in the latter 2, very youthful.
Fat Sam cant bat, bowl or field
If thats the case maybe he should have opted to play for India
no,not again
lets not turn this into an india bashing thread.
"The way many were saying that england will send the new lot, seems unlikely after they lost to the inexperianced west indies team"
The same "new lot" that beat them by 10 wickets?
Also, i blame the South African youth system for Pieterson's average of a mere 23 over the last 2 years.
