Home advantage is a lot more than fans cheering. Home comforts, routine, home teams can make the pitch suit them and disadvantage the opponent, etc etc.

But, yes, why would a relegation threatened team vote for anything that could see them relegated?

Are you saying there is no such thing as home advantage? There is literally a case study across football over a hundred years and millions of games across the world that proves otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he is saying home advantage is just the presence of your supporters.

So essentially because a bunch of millionaires will be out of their comfort zone, they shouldn't be relegated?

You talk about home routine and home comforts. Sounds like a nonsense comfort zone thing. Also, the thing with pitches I don't buy. They'll be playing on EPL standard pitches, not some Europa league away tie farmer's pitch....

I think the venue makes a difference even if fans are absent. The question is how much, if any, impact would this fact have on project restart?

IMO, if the Prem are lucky enough to get the go ahead that everything else is in order, which looks a tough ask to me, this won't be enough of an issue to stop them of everything else falls into place.

Yeah, I am talking about home advantage and why neutral venues for a quarter of a season would be seen as a negative for teams.
Not sure why financial status of players affects this.

Lets take a fixture that still has to be played Brighton v Newcastle.

In the reverse game Newcastle had home advantage and a partisan crowd in the stadium. If Brighton don't get to play them at home with a partisan crowd in their favour then all integrity is lost.

Some integrity is lost but it's the most feasible way of playing the game. It's fairer than not playing the game at all and just ending the season with only the reverse fixture played.

That loss of integrity is why teams are arguing there should be no relegation.

So what happens if that game goes ahead at, say, Wembley and Brighton win? What will they do? Publicly apologise and refuse the three points??? All nonsense.

You can't scrap relegation unless you scrap everything if all you scrap is relegation those teams will go in to every game with no fear.

Good windup by the way. With the partisan crowd and superior home advantage, Newcastle managed to draw 0-0 with them!

That is why scrapping everything is the best way.

Integrity goes out of the window. This is a unique global situation and if you are relegated after 38 games then tough. Better luck next season.

Not a massive fan of empty neutral venues or playing out the 92 games in Australia to be honest.

I'm sure there will be obvious reasons why we can't just wait until the lurgy has completely gone so we can go to games again and integrity is maintained. then complete this season and realign future seasons gently as best we can, until we get back to normal season start date - Maybe some one could give a perspective on that

Take Brighton. They have home games left against Arsenal and Man Utd.
Since the start of the 17/18 season Brighton have taken 10 from 12 points. In 6 away games against those two it drops to just 4 points from 18.
Losing home advantage will obviously have a massive affect on the relegation fight.

Integrity goes out the window, so does the competition. Voiding the season

Just had a silly thought, if the season can't or isn't completed until 2021, would Liverpool become the 2021 champions instead of the 2020, if so does that mean that bloke I saw in media with his Liverpool 2020 Premier League champions tattoo needs to go back to get a little adjustment done?

As i said this is a unique situation. Everyone is making changes to there work routines to continue as normal as much as they can and so will football. Unlike in France at least teams in the PL will be able to have a say if they get relegated or not.

I haven't made a change to my work routine (although I may do some overtime this week which is a rarity).
