I really hope so! Yes. We deserve it after the last 2 seasons.

Yes.

And if there's any justice, it'll be us and WBA.

I think with lack of any announcement from Gov re professional sport, I don't see how football restarts in UK.

I think authorities and clubs genuinely wanted it to restart, but the compromises being proposed were always going to create divisions and with systems where you need a majority to agree, self preservation rises to the surface.

I believe Prem and EFL won't get to to restart, clubs won't be able to be relegated due to either clubs voting or threats of lawsuits regarding relegation without having given clubs fair chance to potentially avoid and that those threats have genuine chance of standing up.

I think Prem will end up not allowing promotion from Championship and will pay compensation to Leeds & West Brom.

Every day this rags on reduces the chance of football completing, unless there is unanimous agreement that this season finish gets postponed indefinitely (could be 12 months or more) but that then becomes unworkable with clubs having to keep paying players whilst receiving no income.

At this point I'm afraid I see it as a no.

I really do agree with that assessment Jonty - hope i'm wrong (or do I?) but I don't see us gaining promotion.

In terms of compensation perhaps any parachute payments that may have gone to the relegated sides, should instead be provided to those in the promotion spots? I'm not sure any solutions won't end up making some lawyers a bit richer, including my thoughts above - someone, somehow will lose because of this.

There's simply no contingency in place for the scenario facing the country/world right now.

I hope we get promoted, I've been following us for more than 50 years, but I said from start that simplest solution is one that ends up getting taken, that football would end up finishing early and we're seeing that happen elsewhere and think we're heading that way too.

Just too many obstacles.

It will be an awful kick in the teeth, especially after the loyalty Bielsa has shown us, after the gamble the club have taken which was paying off, after the centenary celebrations and after loss of our famous sons.

Even if we get promoted without playing final matches or behind closed doors its an empty feeling, but to have invested so much and be denied would be awful.

I genuinely hope I am wrong, but if matches not played I strongly feel Prem will shut up shop and protect its own interests.

I do want promotion, without doubt. My "or do I?" bracketed comment was more a bit of reflection and inner questioning (if any of that makes sense) as I typed my reply. Like many i'm questioning a lot of norms right now, football included.

We've worked so hard, waited so long and been through the mill enough over the last decade or so as fans, we almost do deserve some deliverance.

I'm leaning to the outcome of no promotion, so that anything else is a bonus. Truth is none of us have a clue. My guess is that the solution(s) being rummaged over by the various footballing authorities are the ones that involve the least and less costly subsequent court cases. I really don't see another ball being kicked in the 19/20 season, with or without fans.

Reading the opinions from Jonty and VOF just above it does seem like a domesday scenario...can the football authorities allow such a situation where the morale and disillusionment of fans and many clubs would be a very serious issue...they must find a way through this impasse and finish the season.
I still think it's not beyond our ken to look at the situation sometime in July to make a start in August and behind closed doors, with the hope that the virus is well in control.
As far as I'm concerned if they abandon this season and decide to compensate such as Leeds and WBA, well they can stick that where the sun doesn't shine.
My disillusionment with football will be complete!

I could live with no promotion IF football reset itself.

Furloughing is going to be phased out, clubs with hundreds of staff are going to be in real trouble.

Let's reset what footballer wages should be, lets reset how tv changes fixtures days and times, lets get away from wall to wall football every single day and see it as something special again.

I hope the world changes after all this and hope football sees that it has to as well.

Not sure it's domesday NJS, but it's a real crossroads for football I believe.

Like Jonty I can and would accept no promotion if football takes a long hard look and does a reset of some sorts.

I'd also want some sort of compo from the Prem league to offset the impact on the clubs lower down - i.e. the parachute payments, league prizes divvied up.

Well I do agree with the opinions and sentiments expressed by Jonty and VOF with football resetting itself with ref to the obscene salaries, transfer fees and cutting down tv of live games....if that happens shame it took a pandemic to open people's eyes, football is a game for everyone not just for people with fat wallets!

Government say no Professional sport until June 1st which is inline with the targeted start dates of the premier league.

Will allow 2 months as required for the leagues to finish before July 31st.

Obviously this is only possible if all goes to plan. But fingers crossed it will.

1. I can see the season just being voided, even with all the problems that will cause

2. I can see the season finishing with closed grounds after a lot of haggling, possibly with a small number of grounds

3. I can see proposals for promotion and relegation that get pushed through without matches played, but then reversed due to legal cases

4. I can't see any acceptance of providing Leeds and WBA some free money - the whole impetus is against the parachute payments, not doling out money to those who did not achieve it

4. I can't see
