An official cheated - actually cheated - but we don't know why.
------
We know why and its generally accepted that VAR refs will try not to interfere with the on field decision and this is exactly what happened here. Corruptly using diagonal lines to justify the on field decision and cheating a team out of a valid goal.
And no one has done anything about it.
-----
What would you suggest be done about it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd suggest if there's a chance that an official has deliberately deceived the on pitch referee then an investigation takes place.
-------
Perhaps you should bump th e issue to authorities. Personally I don't see how it's deception of an official, mainly because it isn't. I also don't see why it should warrant an investigation, mainly because it doesn't. It only requires that they be re-instructed.
Funny how no one else is mentioning this apparent corruption though, isn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was all over the world. TV stations and pundits disagreeing with it. Qatar, Australia, USA, South Africa, UK.

And who of those said what you have? That the official deliberately manipulated the situation, knowing Firmino was onside, choosing to make out that he was offside?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Andy Gray, working in Qatar, Kamara in the UK. Can't remember what the others said exactly. I watched the game either on a US or South African channel and they were going made about it. I don't believe they went as far as saying they did it on purpose but i'd have to search for it.
Andy Gray said "Even to my naked eye that knee [Aston Villa defender's] is playing all of him [Firmino] that can score a goal onside. I can see that. I'm sure you can see it too.
"When it's first calibrated, they do it and that comes out: 'Oh, wait a minute. He's still onside. Let's do it again'. And they do it again. And, low and behold, that comes up as offside. Suddenly we've moved that line from there to there. And it's going at a lovely angle!
"That should have been a goal! Because even to my naked eye I can see that knee is playing every part of Roberto Firmino onside and I don't need calibration to tell me otherwise."
"Considering they are public persons, they have to watch their language."
Yes, of course.
Thankfully we have the sharp minds of JA606 to tell us what they REALLY think.
What, corruption?
-----
Technically its corruption. Even though corruption typically involves bribery, it's not a necessarily necessary composite.
He's one working for a TV station in Armenia.

Sorry, but nowhere there does Gray say what you've been saying.
He also fundamentally doesn't understand the process that VAR goes through and the reason that I posted for it being re-done at the time.
Sorry TOOR, there's no getting out of this.
Either you believe that the official is corrupt or you believe the technical explanation given.

Yeh I know - just saw the Liverpool Echo and think it's reasonable to think he might be a Liverpool fan.
Either way, the point stands doesn't it?
There's a lot of criticism of VAR and that incident, but no real clamour to suggest that the officials were deliberately trying to get a decision made for something they knew was wrong. That's a serious allegation and no one has really made it.

An official cheated - actually cheated - but we don't know why.

We know why and its generally accepted that VAR refs will try not to interfere with the on field decision and this is exactly what happened here. Corruptly using diagonal lines to justify the on field decision and cheating a team out of a valid goal.

He's one working for a TV station in Armenia.

As I said, it was all over the world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where does he mention the official is corrupt and this is a deliberate act, when he knows Firmino is onside?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The part where he says the official manipulated the lines until Firmino was offside. Same with Andy Gray.
Also I didn't say the official is corrupt. Although he could be, I don't know.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's more than one interpretation of that. I also see he's contributed to the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool fan, by chance?
Okay, let's give you that one on the benefit of doubt. You have one Russian journalist who also thinks something dodgy was going on.
Strong case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure, although an Armenian Liverpool fan?
He's a former footballer, that's all I know.

"Considering they are public persons, they have to watch their language."
Yes, of course.
Thankfully we have the sharp minds of JA606 to tell us what they REALLY think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, we use quotes and links for that.
The good and sharp minds of JA only give their honest held opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, and you have no quotes or links where the media have accused the official of doing what you say.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What did I say?

The collective 'you', although if you want to distance yourself from TOOR's comments then I understand.

You showed people being critical. That's entirely different.

No, I showed people saying the lines were manipulated. They said it, with words.
Regardless, even if it was just a mistake, that's fine, it could be true. It just doesn't make sense to me this can happen without it being on purpose.

No TOOR, you posted mainly just comments that were criticism.
Do you not know the difference?

No. I posted quotes from people actually saying they manipulated the lines on purpose, until they showed he was offside.
I mean, it's there, in words. I'm not sure what else I can do if you're not going to accept the actual quotes, confirming it.
