You think it's the strongest because it's convenient for you as a Liverpool fan to think so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t understand why you think it’s convenient for Liverpool fans to think Pep’s city team are the best?

Given they beat us to the title last season personally I find it bloody inconvenient they’re so good

Given the point they amassed over 2 seasons I don’t see how it’s even mildly controversial. Even you’ve got them in your top 3 and then take issue with people rating them at number 1!

Because Liverpool finished so close to them, by claiming theyre the best, you can claim you're almost the best.

You can also claim the current Liverpool is on the same level as Chelsea 04/05 and United 98/99 by doing that.

I think the years 2004-2010 were probably the peak years of the Premier League and it's no surprise that English teams were consistently in the semis and final of the CL in that period. The Chelsea 04-05 team was excellent. I always say they seemed to me more invincible than Arsenal's Invincibles, though that Chelsea team did actually lose a league game. They were so efficient and well-organised defensively, physical in midfield and devastating in attack.

At the risk of sounding biased, though, I'd have to say the United team of 07-09 was the strongest of all. Really good squad depth; very strong defensively with Rio, Vidic and Van der Sar (set a record or two at the time, I believe); competed on all fronts, winning the two biggest trophies in 08 and winning two and getting to the semis and final of the other two in 09; won three consecutive league titles when up against Chelsea and Liverpool sides who would have been worthy champions; had a player in Ronaldo who was already one of the best two or three in the world and arguably had the greatest individual season by a PL player in 07-08; and so on. As Wenger's brilliant double-winning Arsenal side of 98 did, Mourinho's first Chelsea team just raised the bar again for United, and Ferguson had them meet the challenge.

City in 2017-2018 certainly deserve a mention - best team since 2009 without a doubt. What they had over the great Chelsea, United and Arsenal sides is that they were streets ahead of all their opponents. You felt they could win any game 4 or 5 nil, and they often did.

Fair enough, you're being genuine.

Do you think man for man it compares to the treble winners?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah but not only that on paper, i think even neville said, players today look after themselves much better as do their clubs and are a lot fitter etc. His words were the games come a long way, players work harder, run faster/longer, more assists more goals more sprints so i think they'd win in a head to head and he'd prob agree i imagine seeing as he believes the prems the strongest its ever been atm.

I think the league was stronger from 04-10, like Brockwork red also said.

But not a single person has done that. It’s all in your head.

Liverpool’s team stands and falls on its own successes and failures. Intelligent people can make judgements without the need to compare to city. Which is just as well really given that in 2017/18 we were miles away.

that united team won the treble...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool won the treble in 01 and City won the treble last year. Liverpool when they wrap up the title will win another treble this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any Liverpool fan claiming a treble this year is as bad as any United fan saying we won the treble in 16/17.

I haven't read anything since my first comment, I assume wahl has come around to the fact the City team is the best of the 3?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, he selected a top 3 and is irritated by anyone chosing one of those 3 whilst also massively contradicting himself from a previous article. So pretty much the usual for him.

I just think there’s an ulterior motive for choosing city

The league was strongest in 03/04, it has got substantially weaker from 2005 onwards.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't understand what that would be though? We finished fourth in the season you highlighted. If it was the 18/19 team I could understand why you may think that. It wasn't though....
---------------------------------------------------
It's quality by association, Liverpool dethroning what's in essence the same City team makes you better (from an argumentative standpoint).

And on that note, as a Chelsea fan I'd like to state Arsenal's Invincibles were by far the best PL team ever

City raised the bar, 97 points wasnt even good enough to win a title ffs. So yeah.

2 years, and the majority of the team is still the same - Ederson, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Silva, KDB, Sterling, Aguero, guys like B. Silva & Jesus were there that year, Guardiola's still the manager, etc...

It's not a ridiculous point to raise but taken a bit out of context, a Wahl specialty. It doesn't take much to accept the opinion of others that Pep's City is the best without an ulterior motive even if you personally disagree.

Definitely that City side. 100%

Come on adbrocat. No ulterior motive at all here?

How are you acting like choosing City is an easy decision?

posted on 20/5/20

Is it coincidence that everyone that thinks City are the best is a Liverpool fan?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

To me it is. I'm not sure why you have an issue with that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It makes your decision not seem genuine, especially when other Liverpool fans do the same
