Schmeichel
Neville Kompany Terry Cole
Kante Vieira
Ronaldo De Bruyne Henry
Drogba
Some team that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kante is a top player but better than Keane? Also as good as Drogba was at times he didn’t score quite enough to meld this team imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its hard to say whos better, ive not picked a team on whos individually better, ive not religiously watched a few of them since age etc and it'd all be subjective anyway. What ive done is picked a 11 from those 44 or w.e and i think it'd be hard team to beat. Its a team with a lot of power and a bit of everything really, and as you'd expext from the choices of champions real warriors/winners in there.
As i said could change it up a bit with bit more creativity, a more ball playing cb, lampard for more goals in mf or scholes/toure etc for creativity, or some more pace upfront or creativity such as rooney.
That said i dont think ive seen a better season from a defensive midfielder than the 2 kante had for lesta then chelsea. And Drogba on his day a right handful, seen him bully entire defences on his own and in big games, he sticks out more for me than rooney or aguero etc, guy id want in the big games. Didnt he score 10 in 10 finals or sumin daft?

My alternative team to the BBC one
.................Cech....................
Ivanovic... Vidic.. Kompany.... Irwin
................ Viera.....................
.......Lampard........Hazard......
.................Bergkamp.............
........Rooney.........Drogba.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No width
Schmeichel
Neville Rio Terry Cole
Scholes Keane Silva
Ronaldo Henry Hazard
Aguero over Bergkamp is laughable tbh. But it’s when you see De Bruyne over Vieira you realise that a lot of 12 year olds voted for this.
No Makelele either! The guy that made such an impact, he actually has a position named after him.
No way Kante is in the same league as Keane
Erm, guys guys... who do you think was better in the Makelele role. Keane or Makelele?
Ooo tough one!!
Roy Keane is up there as one of THEE most overrated footballers in PL history.
Oh yeah, but remember that time in the tunnel with Vieira... haha. Such delusion.

Oh Christ
hes rated a lot more by others than maybe i rate him, but i wouldnt say overrated at all, he was key to a lot of utds success for a start and no doubt one of the greats. He deserves the ratings/plaudits he gets.
as do most of the options in there tbh if not all. so stop being silly.
He was the driving force to so many trophies. Maybe not the most technically gifted as others mentioned here (although better than he gave himself credit for) but his will to win made him great.
At his peak I’d choose him over any PL midfielder.

i agree he was actually better at football than he probably thinks he was, not bad player at all, but it was the other stuff that made him key.

Ya there was many as good and better ability wise but his mentality was crazy. Some of his performances were unbelievable.
His performances vs Portugal & Holland in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers will never be forgotten.
Such a shame he didn’t play in that tournament.
Keane's passing is something that doesn't get talked about enough. Not just that he was technically very good, but his sense of when and where to release the ball.
‘Maybe not the most technically gifted as others mentioned here...’
Agreed.
Which is why Keane’s inclusion is laughable.
How can you have an All Time PL XI with a ‘not technically gifted’ player at the centre of it?
All this line up shows is more people from Manchester voted for it, than anywhere else.
Was Makelele as gifted as Keane?
No, Makelele was a limited player.

I’d disagree with that.
Why? It’s true. He was fantastic at what he did do, but it was still a limited role in the midfield. Lampard, Thiago, Ballack and Essien were tasked with the more influential roles on the ball.
Fair point. I did think he was a very good footballer on the ball though.
I never thought that. He didn’t have the dribbling ability or passing range to move the midfield forward, which is why all those other players did it. He was good at releasing short balls quickly to the other players in space, he was a very clever player. It’s why Madrid actually got rid of him, even if that was a mistake.

To be fair, United fans do have a tendency to overhype their players
