I remember a very large table laden with pints in my local being upended when the equaliser went in but nobody gave a damn
The shift we put in for extra-time is often overlooked when people talk about this game. We were like biochemically enhanced super-cyborgs.
Princess RITH was 2 years old and had worn this LFC hoodie to sleep in at every round.
Around that time, my then MIL was around and decided to help out by putting it in the wash.. after my superstitious nature kicked off at half time!
she promptly found it, placed it in the crook of princess’ arm as she slept, didn’t want to wake her to put it on her. I woke her up with a “THATS TWO!!” shout as Smicer scored. Went to the room took her “Madagascar” pyjama top off and put on the LFC hoodie.
Straight the game I phoned up all the oppo supporting mates that gave me stick at half time (had to delete some text messages to receive more.. them days!) and I didn’t care how long it took them to answer their house phones!

I had watched every game leading up to the final at home, having went to the pub once and we lost. I was busting to watch this one in the pub but couldn't risk it.
At half time, I was praying, just please let us score one goal and keep the scoreline respectful. When the second went in, I thought feck respectful, this is on!
CL final was still on Wednesday nights, I was 15, and my mum and step-dad were going down the local so he could watch it and she could talk to her friends. So I was home looking after my younger sister, whom I woke up celebrating the penalty award.
It honestly felt like an age between the keeper saving the penalty and Alonso getting to the rebound.
Oh and having left the club I was a member of about a year previous, I didn't get a ticket but they managed to get them. I found out later they left at half time
They won't admit to it, even to this day.

My dad had missed the first half of the olympiakos match due to working late. He arrived at half time and liverpool needed 3 goals to go through. When that happened he decided that he would only go to the pub at half time for the rest of the CL.
In the day of the final he did the same thing (avoiding the score in tbe first half) and on his way to the pub his mate text him to say "don't bother, they 3-0 down" which my dad thought was a wind-up.
Apparently he said he would have 1 beer and if they hadn't scored by then he would go home. When he finished his beer they had scored 3.

Brilliant. The Olympiakos game was absolutely crazy also.
My main memory of the anniversary of it will actually be tomorrow. Decided on a whim to drive a couple of Reds supporting mates over to Liverpool, all harbouring enormous hangovers from the night before, to watch the trophy parade. Somehow ended up staying the night in Bootle at some random lasses house doing shots of flaming Aftershock and getting a load of free sniff and a leg over thrown in for good measure
Hard not to have a soft spot for Liverpool FC after all of that
I remember being extra excited because we just bought a 28" new flat screen TV days before the game.
As for the game at half time the only outcome for me was Milan winning 5 or 6 nil but the team had other ideas. I still expect that Shevchenko chance to go in. No way should Dudek be saving that.
I was 16 in my last year of school. I just watched the game at home and struggled to stay awake. Might've dosed off a few times in the second half of extra-time. Literally had to stand up to watch the penalty shootout.
No fancy story of any trips to the pub or anything

Do the lions and stuff not keep you awake at night?
I'm a man now...chased the lion into the cave at 18. They never dared test me after that.

Down Cabbage Hall for me. It was somber like a funeral at half time. Dead quiet. Was getting loads of texts as well from United supporting mates giving us all sorts, and then..........yeah can’t remember after but never known anything like it.

Dudeks double save! I still it's going in when I watch it now.
My cousin pointed it out to me. When watching old games or even highlights of the weekend's games, missed chances still get a reaction out of me
Was only 12 years old at the time, turned it off at half time as was too upset and couldn’t watch the second half. Dad ran in shouting it was 3-2 and then the rest happened. Absolutely mental night, and one of my great memories I got to share with him.
Just wish he could have carried on a bit longer to share last years win with him but sadly life decided that would not be the case.
Still can’t believe it at times when I watch it at back, so many how moments. That Dudek save from Shevchenko makes no sense.

Great to have that memory mate something you'll never forget.
i was 15 or so too, was watching it with my dad, and i was so peed off at HT i went to bed sulking. Had tv in my room so kept watching it mind. I remember jumping out of bed n punching the wall and it really hurting, thought id done some damage.
I remember watching it in a pub in town with friends and some people from work, I was outside furiously smoking at half time and a united fan from work was all smug telling me we didn't deserve to be in the final anyway and that Milan were just a far better team etc.
He wasn't so smug when shev stepped up and tapped his pen at Dudek!
It really was despair to elation. As some others said, the amount of abuse I was getting from rival friends and family at half time. And the sweetness of calling then back and just hearing the dial tone as they couldn't have the guts to pick up. Happy days.
And yes, I still think Shevchenko is about to score each time I watch it

I was in the local hammering pints.
Loads of reds in but was like a morgue at half time
Plenty of United lads etc there as well dishing it out (to be expected)
They all left at the end and we were drinking champagne
