It's funny, isn't it. You get bowlers like Chase who are utterly average against every side in the world except England. England always seem to be the side that naff players break their bad streak against and suddenly turn up with a massive performance. It's hard not to draw the conclusion that it's our team that is the problem. We're the common denominator.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably a case of being too tentative or potentially not treating an average bowler seriously enough. We get through a tough spell against qualify bowlers and then switch off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's too easy for our guys to play rubbish and still get picked.
Such a shiiit batting line up
Wouldn't say shiiit, just massively inexperienced in test cricket barring Root and Stokes

Yeah, there's been a mental/concentration issue in the side for years. We're just a bit soft.

It's not, though. That's the frustrating thing.
I think the likes of root, Stokes, Crawley and Curran are going to play a massive part with the bat today, feel like all will hit big scores.

He means in the second innings after tea.
Maybe we should have kept Denly.
I think the batsmen are too negative, on the whole, dont attack the bowlers enough
Makes a nice change from the Bayliss era which was all about putting the bowlers under pressure by batting quickly. The top order are there to set a platform and the personnel we've got now look more capable of doing that.
Sibley getting stuck in.
Think we have another cracking test match in store here.
Said earlier can we survive the first day?
Oh ffs. Drinks break. Second ball. Loose shot. Out.
At least stokes is not negative like the previous batsmens

That went well .....................
Gabriel has just limped off so we just need to not do anything stupid for a while and allow the bowlers to tire and get frustrated. Then you cash in later in the day. I know Root likes to move things along but give yourself a couple of overs to get your eye in again after a break.

Root is such a bottler
Every time Steve Smith gets to 20 a big score is on the way
Root normally gets to about 50 and then goes out

Yeah, "England bats don't attack enough" is definitely one of the more interesting hot takes I've read recently, considering how badly they got pilloried for YEARS for attacking too much under Trevor F*"£ing Bayliss.
That Root wicket is everything that's wrong with this team. They're capable of doing the hard work but don't capitalise on it.
Root was set up nicely for a good score, but has put us right back in trouble.

It's the Aussie philosophy dont allow the bowlers to dominate, would you deny that this works? Or is it just a fact they have better batsman than us
