Government probably happy for the coronavirus to spread around a bit whilst the NHS is coping
The BLM idiots have been a godsend for the tories and probably helped them to a large majority at the next election.

Yeh, like the 40,000 dead under a Tory Watch will give them a large majority. The country will not forget how bad the Tories have handled the Coronvirus crisis. Or at least I would hope they wouldn`t.

BLM idiots. Go on?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im not questioning their message but their approach.
A few things -
1 the government's idiotic handling of covid would have put them under pressure. A second wave of covid might have finished them. In the next few weeks you can be sure that we'll see data showing spikes following their protests. The government will absolve itself of all responsibility. BLM's approach facilitated that.
2 Fear of mythical race riots will replace covid aa the biggest issue in large parts of the press. Some people will fall for the shiny distraction and believe that we need Boris and his cronies to protect us.
3 regardless of circumstances, you cant have a violent thug as your poster boy. That will be exposed as the months go on . A huge blunder.
4 by organising large protests, they exposed the people they are trying to help, and who are acknowledged as being at greater risk, to the disease. Some will die. Helping your own supporters to the grave probably isn't a good strategy.
5 they have let the debate become a political left v right one. Thats distracting.
6 i know that the majority will disagree but ultimately BLM is a conflucting message that does not promote inclusion. Black Lives Matter Too would have been better. A campaign to promote all minority groups would have been much better. You cant defeat racism with a divisive message.
7 focusing on tearing down a few statues of largely forgotten slavers is a pathetically trivial approach. That will get done and then forgotten. Its a half hearted approach. The British monarch benefitted more from slavery than anyone. They had a virtial monopoly on it for 150 years. The whole Elizabethan era (that the current monarch named herself for) was built on it. If youre going after a few long forgotten slavers but avpiding the issue and allowing a distraction. Thats another mistake in my books.
I could go on but they've not managed this well in my opinion and might get a few concessions but no real change.
People are more likely to think back to when the Labour put this country on its knees during the recession.
If after this pandemic the UK comes out strong the Tories will keep in power easily. People care about money, not deaths.

Yes, the labour party at fault for one of the worst global recession's in history. Were they the ones selling all those worthless AAA rated mortgage backed securities?
I'm someone with no political affiliations, but I cannot wait to vote this government out. They are the most incompetent bunch of clowns we've ever had the misfortune to govern our country.

Stop harping back to Labour Mate, the Tories have been in power for 10 years, it has them that brought in Austerity, and them that are about to give us Austerity on Steriods with their destructive Brexit, that was fuelled by the Right. You can only blame Labour for so long. The Tories are currently bringing the country to its knees, not Labour.
Millions are shortly to become unemployed. If people keep backing this sordid Government that is their call, but don`t expect sympathy when they all become unemployed, which is fast coming down the line. You reap what you sow.

Interesting posts, mags.
Focusing on one race group or minority is divisive, imo.
It excludes rather than unites people and makes skin tone the central defining issue on how we treat and view ourselves.
Morgan Freeman among others does not want to be a POC or black man, but a human being.
That may sound trite, but I do not think you or I growing up from sixties NI or Scotland regard ourselves as "white".
I have said if I was born black I would have a different experience, but going forward we need to be people first and labelled with identity political terminology second.
