If will be very interesting to see how playing in empty stadiums affects teams. Home advantage is surely negligible.. might be purely about who the better players are once and for all
Pogba and Bruno played together for the first time in one of the recent friendlies didn't they?
Be interested to see how they link up with Bruno having started so well.

You'll get good odds on that mate.
With such a long break I suspect the teams that perform best over the final matches will be the ones who had the best physical conditioning strategies. Any team that's 5% behind it's opponent in intensity / stamina is going to struggle. I really hope our players are among the relatively fit squads.

Can’t remember the stats off the top of my head, but think the Bundesliga has seen abnormal amounts of away wins since it restarted which indicates empty stadiums suit teams who are technically more proficient rather than workman-like teams that thrive off the energy of crowds.
Will be interesting to see the affects in the PL for sure.

For any factor other than luck/how the game pans out, this is the biggest factor imo. It was something the Sunday supplement talked about I think, how many clubs have done their ‘homework’

Incidence of home wins has roughly halved, though over a very small sample size:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2020/jun/13/will-home-advantage-really-vanish-when-the-premier-league-resumes
First two games are huge. If we get six points there and United only have to look up the table. Lose to either team and they're looking over their shoulder
Agreed OP, massive fixtures and it’s a bit like starting the season again - momentum will be crucial.
People need to understand this isn't going to be as simple as "we should be looking to take maximum points from the rest".
Everybody is going into the rest of the season with no match fitness, less so than pre-season in fact, with no form, no match atmosphere.
It's not going to be as simple as we should be beating teams, there will be strange results. You'd imagine whoever gets a good start could have a good end to the season.

Hard to know for sure whether workmanlike teams benefit from the crowd energy more than technical ones. I'd have thought both would get some lift from vocal home support.
I’ve only just looked at the fixtures. Must admit, I thought given your form that the lockdown had come at the wrong time for Utd. Looking at the fixtures though I’d rather have Utd’s games than Chelsea’s. Could be a really interesting battle but if I had to back one team it would probably be Utd.
Think Leicester should be fine but if they drop a few points then a final day game against Utd could be set for CL battle. Would be good to see.
4 points from the next 2 games would put us in good shape.
6 points and you’d have to make us favourite.
I do think empty stadiums will help in the away fixtures. Fans are always up for it when United come to town and do make a difference.
*favourites for top 4 i mean.

But so do Uniteds away fans.
As I said in the link I shared. Given our squad, current standings and remaining fixtures, I think we are in the driving seat for 4th. Even 3rd if Leicester have a bad start

Put away fans are great but not the extent of a packed pumped up stadium.
I'd wage the players get more from the away fans than they do the home.

Why do teams statistically do better home than away then?
Home turf. Expectation is greater. Less travel.....
I do think our players react badly to lively away atmospheres. We can be cruising and give away a corner then suddenly a little pressure and we concede.

Scientific studies suggest otherwise.
Ryan Boyko, a research assistant in the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, studied 5,000 English Premier League games from 1992 to 2006, to discern any officiating bias and the influence of home crowds. The data was published in the Journal of Sports Sciences and suggested that for every additional 10,000 people attending, home team advantage increased by 0.1 goals.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/6629397.stm
And here's a study that looked exclusively at derby matches between teams that share a stadium (i.e. under control conditions where familiarity with the stadium and travel distances are not factors) which still concludes that 'the existence of a sizable crowd support’s effect on the home advantage generated both through the influence on referee’s decisions and through the encouragement of players’ performance'.
