No Smoke yet, but very good chance of thunder Friday
It doesn't look that the white smoke will appear today. Barrow is not accepting our terms for payment at the moment. They had said that they wanted the payment in full and it doesn't look as if they are willing to budge on that at the moment. On the other hand, we apparently have a plan B.
Nothing much can happen before the management situation is sorted except possibly the retained list, which has to happen soon as contracts are coming to an endpoint. So, we will need to sit tight and hope that it's sorted asap.
Move on. Not worth the money.
Plan C could be in action
Wait for foreign manager to come out of quarantine for the press conference.
The retained and door still open list.

In the academy all under 15's have offers to stay
It rather looks like Barrow was trying to gild the pig. BWFC say that the price was not what barrow was claiming and there is something in his contract that possibly backs that up.
It was stated earlier that the price was around £125,000 and later that it was £200,000 possibly with £50,000 for his assistant. In light of the financial situation for all lower league clubs, that did look to be very high, especially for a manager with his CV, regardless of the fact that he got them promotion. So negotiations continue, hopefully at a more realistic price.
Looks like barrows bluff has failed. £250k was crazy. Looks like we have our man.
When does the delay while they haggle over wages kick in ?
How long are we off a match day thread with Benny reporting live from inside the ground
The wages scenario is sure to come if we are in a position of being able to bring him to the UniBol.
I guess September maybe the month that we can expect games to be played but that obviously depends on whether or not there is another spike in the R rate. Looking at the scenes around the country where people seem to have forgotten that we still have social distancing, I have a terrible feeling that another lockdown could be on its way.
The new season is due to start in September. The question is will crowds be allowed. I doubt it.
Evatt has left Barrow apparently.
I thought lawyers always took Sunday off where he's gone
Where did you see that Benny? I've been looking for news on any deal and I haven't found anything more than what has appeared in the b\eano.
Is Benny the train spotter camped out at Horwich Parkway talking to his fellow spotters on twitter at Barrow Carnforth and all stations to Preston
Are we looking for a Bogof where Atherton comes free with Evatt
It now appears that we offered £150,000 which has been rejected. We have however agreed to pay any compensation in one lump. It looks as if negotiations are to continue this morning.
The problem with the disparency in the amount of the fee is related to Evatt's new contract which is due to start at the beginning of the new season. Obviously, that has not been actioned and will not be until the season starts, so Barrow tried to say that the fee should be based on the new contract. In essence, they wouldn't have a cat in hells chance of that being upheld in a court of law.
It also seems to be the case that Evatt's understudy has been offered his position if the deal goes through. Not a disaster if it turns out that way, but it would have been better to secure both men as a team.
I trust if we leave his assistant behind it doesn't turn out to be another dopey Doug scenario when his assistant waltzed off with Matilda to show he was the better manager leaving us with just dopey Dougie.
Talking of Tony Popovic he won the Aus. prem again last season this time with Perth Glory
Dont panic, They're both coming definitely.
No panic yet its not as if we have a season start date what have we got to do to keep busy
- Build a squad
- Training
- Pre season tour
Taking the positives, as some of our ex managers were fond of saying, as we adjust to the reality of being in League 2.
There are going to be some quite tasty grudge matches in 20/21 whenever it starts, aren't there? Obviously Barrow now, and remember Forest Green and the Doidge saga?
Couple of new local(ish) derbies with Salford and Morecambe.
Always nice to refresh the rivalry with Oldham of course.
And after triumphantly singing "we're not going to Grimsby" at Carrow Road during a promotion season 20-odd years ago ... well now we are.
It does seem to be nailed on that both Ian Evatt and his assistant Peter Atherton will be installed at the UniBol if not tomorrow soon after.
I'm hoping that they settle in quickly and are able to put together a decent squad and lead us to promotion. They have the facilities and a management team that care about the club, the rest is down to them. I know we all wish them the very best.

Pre-season tour? I don't expect that will be a grand tour of Europe. Perhaps they should start pre-season training running up Rivington Pike. That would show the squad what it's all about. Hard work devotion to the job in hand and belief in the club.
Dean Moxey letting the side down again
Bolton set to announce Ian Evatt as our new manager. Peter Atherton his assistant is also part of the deal and there is a high possibility that analyst, Lewis Duckmanton, and physio, Callum Waters, will both be part of the compensation package that has been agreed with Barrow.
Hopefully, the new team will start work before the end of the week and start to get familiar with their new surroundings. I'm sure that it will be a massive change from the ground and facilities at Barrow.
So we are just waiting for the official announcement which I expect will take place today, barring any minor problems with salary discussions.
