Hit the wrong quotes. This is what he said at the time.
"If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney. The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together.
"That is how everybody in football understands it. You always want to have the best, but building the group is necessary to be successful.
"Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money."
He then said, after the signing of VVD and Allison:
"That’s the problem these days, you say something and whatever BS you say, nobody will forget it!"
"I could not imagine that the world would change like that – two and a half years ago, £100 million was crazy money, since then the world obviously changed since then.
"In this moment we signed the world’s most expensive goalkeeper; there will be a few, nice transfers in this window still. It will happen a lot.
"My responsibility is for this club to be as successful as possible. It is not for me to push through my thoughts about that and say ‘no, I don’t want to pay big money’ (because) in the end if Liverpool FC is not successful it doesn’t work.
"We have a really good team, a really good squad, to improve a squad like this is expensive, because to find better players than we already have; they are not waiting around the corner.
"When we are convinced about it (signing a player), then our ownership believes that much in the project that they say ‘ok, let’s do it.’ And I really think it is a really good year for us; very good squad.
"We don’t care about what the world around is thinking. Like Man United didn’t care what I had to say about it (Pogba).
"It’s only an opinion in that moment. Did I change my opinion? Yes. That’s true. It’s better to change an opinion than to never have one."
So he admits to what he said and had changed his mind.

He never said that.

Bunch of ungrateful cants for mocking Batshuayi for being your striker back then. He scored two to get you to the CL final, and then one in the final to win you it. Try showing a bit more respect to Bashuayi please.

but let's be honest, the guy is a frequent hypocrite, even this week he's patronising lampard and telling him to let it go at the final whistle, barely a week after he was on the pitch whilst one of his players was abusing the ref after the match.

im sure he meant huge amounts for players with little quality.

No. He didn't mean that. Otherwise he'd have said it.

Keitas not been a bad signing, hes had a lot of good periods for us, in my honest opinion never seen him have a game below 5/10. I understand hes not been smashing it with 9/10s every game either.
Liverpool fans expected far too much too soon from a guy whos clearly a very shy personality. Frustrating that hes constantly played himself into good form bagging motm performances etc then getting a little injury again to keep him out for a few months. His quality is clear to see just needs to get up to that level and fitness avoiding injury we saw with Leipzig. Just turned 25, but his injury records already a concern for me atleast.

I know this isn't for me, but the way I see it, United have had players signed who, due to inquiries eventually don't live up to their label or price tag. Anderson, Smalling and Jones all came and suffered injuries that have taken huge dents in their development.

gotta love the way that even klopp admitted he was talking sh!t, yet there are still liverpool fans who won't even admit that.
we know that you have spent well; we know that some of your spending has been funded by sales; we know that VVD has been better value than maguire.
but that still doesn't make his initial comments any less silly, as klopp himself admitted (!)

and TAA of course, though he was presumably still in nappies.
but i'm with jinja on this, if your scouts go out and buy you good players, you will have a good team. if they buy you very good players, you will have a very good team.
from what i read quite a lot of the credit, for some purchases certainly (robertson, salah), goes to the scouts rather than the manager.
so i know some people are determined to blame ole for what he doesn't do - why doesn't he shout a lot on the sidelines, klopp does? - but really the lessons to be learned at the club are mainly for the scouts and negotiating team - buy some good players for less than stupid fees please.

Pretty much. People talk like Klopp and Pep would help develop Lingard and Pereira into world class players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lingard was "world class" for about one month under Jose.
Some players have improved under Ole, others have regressed.
I agree, RAP, never suggested otherwise.
In fairness to Liverpool fans, they were so used to listening to Rodgers and Rafa talk shiiiiiit for years that what Klopp said doesn’t even register.
Just shows you how good a manager Klopp is. Ferguson was right when he said he was worried when Liverpool got Klopp.
