Liverpool got some really cool, quirky historical records this season. That one about being the team to win it quickest (by game played) yet took the longest (by calendar) at the same time is a great one.

Those little nuggets are the historical stats I loved.

Do you as a Liverpool fan feel a bit silly bringing up your history as a counter argument consistently to justify your lack of successes (by that standard) in the present now the monkey's off your back?

All fans appreciate their own club's history, but can you see how it was a lame argument now? How referencing it means very little to anyone in a present day football debate besides your own fans?

Lets face it Devil, when a Liverpool fan talks about history, what they're actually talking about is the wealth of trophies they won in a (recent) part of their history, ie the 70s and 80s.

I mean if you were that interested in history you could support Notts County, Bolton or Bury couldn't you!

As far as their own history, in the true sense of the word, they don't even have the longest history on Merseyside let alone England!

I know, but they used to do it so much (referring to that period) to the point where it seemed like they truly believed it was in any way relevant to a present day debate - that it automatically strengthen Liverpool's modern standing by default - and I never understood it.

Whatever happens to us within the next 20-30 years I'll always look back on this period of our own history with magnificent memories, but if we hypothetically didn't win a lot from now till then I can't imagine myself referencing this point in time to the future superpowers as an argumentative position to suggest we're on their present day level? That's stupid

I'm just curious.

Why would you be curious about a club that has less history than Tranmere Rovers!
