Sell Lacazette and bring back Giroud

Great when he's on form, a nightmare to have when he's not. Likeable guy so happy he's still doing well, but hopefully he won't in the final.

think yesterday showed how good he is in the air. Wolves two cbs are giants and our long balls were more hoofs up in the air and giroud battled and made every ball hard for them winning his fair share when he wasn't favourite.

He's great in the air.

Nick, like you I watch Giroud regularly. I often see him outjumped and rarely see his headers reach the target be it goal or team mate. I would point out that since Baku he has scored one header and that was against Watford at home recently a night where he missed a hat full of chances.Just a reminder that I pointed out Kepa's deficiency almost a year ago whenI said he didn't like coming off his line and you said you'd look out for it,now he's being outed.

Hope it helps you

Doesn't disprove my point. One headed goal since Baku.

I used to get very frustrated with him because the ball would bounce off him, he wasn't great at trapping a ball, his movement was non-existent at times and he did miss chances that you'd expect top-4 strikers to score. But it wasn't his fault that he wasn't at the required level to perform week in and week out.

I always said that as a Plan B or back-up option, he's very good, and he generally did have an impact coming off the bench. But as a regular starter? Not for me.

For years, we neglected sorting this issue out and it got to a point where, no matter how badly he performed, he was guaranteed to start due to lack of options up front.

However, he clearly has some resentment toward Arsenal for the way we got rid of him. He was motivated in Baku and I have no doubts it'll be the same on Saturday too.

In hindsight, I'd have preferred to not sign Lacazette, kept Giroud and buy Aubameyang.

If we had Aubameyang in 2015/16, I'm confident we would have won the league.

For a supposed crap striker he's been a part/scored goal of the season an awful lot of times

Not sure but it may well be more times than any other player since his arrival.

That's how I view him. The missed chances are too many and too often. When a keeper defender messes up it's highlighted they cost the team a goal but missing sitters are just as bad. A top striker would score double. Arsenal sold him at a time they had Auba, Lacazette and Welbeck and whilst he asked to be sold Arsenal didn't say no as he was seen as surplus and a way of raising funds. As I said he's dug Chelsea out of a hole for which I'm grateful.

No one is saying Giroud will be leading the line next year. However, this season he has done more than what was expected of him. He has stepped up whilst Tammy is going through a bad spell.

But giroud is not bad in the air, he might just not score many headers. Our crossing is generally abysmal on the whole

Also if anyone judges giroud solely on goals then that’s silly, he offers more than that. Like drogba. Like firmino.

Goes to show how wasteful our team is then. Kovacic doesn’t get many assists but he ties together our team well too. Giroud offers more than just goals and is the best hold up, team striker in the league maybe after firmino

Raul Jimenez is better for one. Anyway lets agree to disagree and as I say grateful for his goals since he got back in.

You've got to remember Bov,we've seen Costa ,and before him Drogba ,and before him J F H,all miss sitters !, Christ I even remember Peter Osgood missing sitters !

But the article is about Giroud, and his unselfish attitude and his professionalism, and consequentially his impression onto the younger players in the team .

It is quite funny to me, mainly cos I called it, how Chelsea fans all over the internet were adamant our lack of activity in January has cost us top 4, particularly turning down Cavani & Mertens, and it's the guy we already had that's been key to getting top 4

Giroud's class, never appreciated how good he was till we signed him. The perfect squad player for any top club to have, excellent target man.

When Auba doesnt score, he can be useless as well. I agree he scores more goals as Giroud in general but his all around contribution can be frustrating.

Yeah T-Bag let's hope that Giroud doesnt turn up in the final like he did in Baku. One can pray.

Yeah I guess that's true for a lot of strikers GT I guess Giroud is more likely to go on a dry spell for a while and he does a lot of intricate touches, which are very frustrating as a fan when they're not coming off.

I'd still happily have him at Arsenal, I prefer Auba but the two of them together or providing different options would have been perfect.

This and his assists ...do not forget the unselfish assists... A good old fashioned traditional CF which we have been missing since Costa.

Tway I don't mean to labour the point but he has one assist all season. Costa was more clinical than Giroud.

They may have not lead to goals this season but his passing to team mates to create goal scoring opportunities was what I was referring to. Over his career has recorded a decent record of assists... any visit to the right website will confirm that. As to Costa comparisons of course Diego was superior but that was not the discussion at hand.
